Our dairy cooperative is seeking a Continuous Improvement Supervisor to provide principled leadership and support for company growth and improvements, while supporting employees to ensure standard operating procedures, GMPs/SQF and quality programs.

The Continuous Improvement Supervisor is responsible to identify and improve the outcomes of manufacturing and operational processes to improve safety, efficiencies, reduce cost and increase customer satisfaction and promote and facilitate the successful implementation of lean/continuous improvement initiatives both individually and as the leader of project teams. The Continuous Improvement Supervisor will provide strong leadership, guidance and direction for all employees within the plant. Excellent technical knowledge of continuous improvement tools and demonstrated application of these tools in the food processing industry is essential along with strong communication and interpersonal skills and a willingness to support a 24-hour operation.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES include:
  • Drive value stream mapping to define “As-Is Analysis” and the transition to Future State.
  • Lead and implement a Lean transformation to build a Lean culture.
  • Consistently and effectively champion safety continuous improvement initiatives within the facility to ensure all safety goals and objectives are met, maintaining a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Determine risk of success/failure in process change and have positive business impact. Work with a sense of urgency. No fear of the unknown.
  • Identify and facilitate process improvement projects, events and training to drive cultural change.
  • Organize and lead team events and closure. Identify and remove waste from every area of the business.
  • Lean training, personal teaching and coaching. Develop teaching content. Be able to inform, convince and persuade others to action. Work with excellence and believe in others.
  • Partner with Plant Manager to develop balanced score card for plant KPI’s.
Train with Production Manager with the goal to provide plant wide coverage.
Work with the plants training team to bolster the sites training programs
  • Unrelenting root cause problem solving according to Lean principles. Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner by using fact-based decision making.
  • Ability to capture and share present and future best practices with plant and other sites and to Sr leadership.
  • Help drive a cost sensitive work process culture within the Chateaugay Plant.
  • Work closely with manufacturing and others to develop creative solutions for tooling, fixtures, material movements, ergonomics and work flow.
  • Create process documentation.
  • Complete tasks correctly and on time, support organizational goals, values and culture change to Lean. Support for Lean implementation at other facilities.
  • Support all GMP and Food Quality Safety requirements, practices and policies.
  • Work safely and contribute to the development of a culture of safety.
  • Work with department managers to develop and maintain operations training program
  • Develop Training matrix and report deficiencies to stated positional training goals to management team
  • Assist Lead Supervisor in shift supervisor development.
  • Supervise front office personal, schedule their ATO, oversee their training and administer their performance reviews.
This position will also cover shifts for plant supervisory coverage as needed with following responsibilities:
  • Maintain and enforce company policy and programs, including administering discipline as required. Maintain and provide records to demonstrate fair administration and document variances from policy or rules.
  • Maintain an adequately trained workforce capable of meeting quality production requirements through hiring and cross training. This will include fair and timely appraisals of personnel, to be used as constructive tools in developing the workforce. Ensures the facility is maintained in a sanitary manner.
  • Ensures that all products meet regulatory and customer specifications to include:
  • daily walk-through inspections, code checks, weight checks, metal detector checks sanitizing strength checks, and all documentation of any variance to specifications.
  • Responsible for the segregation of product that is suspect of not meeting quality standards and
  • troubleshoot product stoppages and direct the work force to be proactive measures to prevent
  • product stoppages
  • Report and fill scheduling vacancy’s due to sick time call-ins or production changes ensure the work force is
  • meeting the current standards of conduct.
  • Responsible for company generated SOP’s/ JIBs/ GMP’s and general production guidelines.
  • Check the legal instruments (HTST and all sealed chart recorders) insuring product is legally pasteurized.
  • Review and approve SQF documentation.
  • Ensures maintenance receives appropriate work orders confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop
  • Budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications
  • Perform all other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree and manufacturing experience in dairy manufacturing preferred. Three to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requires analytical skills to identify root causes and to resolve situations and problems with viable solutions. Will present information in one-on-one and/or larger group situations. Ideal candidates have prior work experience with Lean Manufacturing-Continuous Improvement processes and training.
