Job Summary

The Control Room Operator will be responsible for monitoring the movement of produced water through Goodnight Midstream’s pipelines and facilities. The Control Room Operator will also process emergency calls and serve a coordinator role in the event of emergencies affecting the company’s assets. A centralized SCADA system serves as the heart of the control room, allowing Operators to remotely stop facility operations in the event of an emergency, analyze changing conditions and alarms and, monitor pipeline integrity, tank storage levels, and maintain communication with field personnel to maximize efficiency, safety, quality, and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Oversee facilities and pipelines through use of the SCADA system.
• Communicate with Control Room Manager, Engineering and Automation groups to identify and implement improvements to the SCADA system.
• Monitor SCADA alarms and system communication status.
• Manage active alarms within the control room operation standard operating procedures.
• Document operational events in electronic logbook.
• Monitor facility security and operations through use of the company’s video monitoring system.
• Provide daily, weekly and monthly data reporting and tracking, and provide ad hoc reports to management, as needed.
• Assist Operations team with day-to-day operations and monitoring of the pipelines and facilities.
• Recognize and respond to abnormal conditions at our facilities and on our pipeline system(s).
• Maintain Standard Operating Procedures
• Provide appropriate response to emergency and non-emergency issues including notification of emergency services, customers, operating personnel and company management using established standard operating procedures.
• Identify operational problems and promptly work with the appropriate Operations and/or Automation personnel to troubleshoot and address.
• Utilize continuous discretion to maintain overall product quality, safe operating conditions, and a cost-efficient operation.
• Assist Operations in contacting customers in the event of shutdowns, emergencies or other situations.
• Other duties and/or projects as may be assigned.

Education and Experience:

One to three years of relevant, industry-specific experience is needed for this role. Experience in pipeline operations, knowledge of SCADA systems, WonderWare, and leak detection systems is also essential. An Associate’s degree is preferred, preferably in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience. HS diploma or equivalent required. Previous Control Room experience preferred.

Excellent communication skills, analytical thinking and strong attention to detail are required for this role. The ideal candidate must be proactive, reliable, highly organized with a strong sense of urgency and be able to make sound, logical decisions. A team player approach is needed, with an ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to resolve issues, maintain composure and work well under pressure, when it comes to system operations and emergency situations, is needed. Excellent computer skills, with proficiencies in Word, Excel and Outlook.

Working Environment/Physical Requirements:

Working conditions are normal for an office environment, plus some work in outdoor environments requiring safety procedures and exposure to varying weather conditions. This position must be able tomove around the office up to 20% of the time; Position remains stationary at least 80% of the time; This position requires frequent communication and exchange of information verbally and in writing. This person constantly observes and reacts to visual, audio and other information, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work. Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts is required.
