Job Title: Controller

Location: Maple Park, IL

Reports to: President

Typical Schedule: 40 hour week; Monday-Friday – on site

Position Summary:

We are an established and growing landscape contractor in immediate need of a topflight Controller. Possessing strong communication and problem-solving abilities, the candidate will be motivated by the challenge to expand their technical, analytical and strategic skills in the development and leadership of a strong, responsive Finance Department. Accounting experience in construction is a plus. Bachelor’s Degree in accounting is preferred. You will work in a dynamic environment where you will not only perform accounting functions but also focus on office management, HR, profitability analysis, process improvement and development of financial and operational dashboards. You will work directly with the President and their outside accounting firm to make the Company successful.

Main Responsibilities:

· Prepare monthly financial accounting close by business unit (installation, maintenance, snow)

· Posting of income and expenses by Job

· Billing and collections, Accounts Payable and bill payment

· Processing of Company’s payroll

· Collaborate with office and field staff to ensure accurate reporting of income and expenses

· Working with outside accounting firm on improving financial reporting including annual budget

· Manage essential HR functions

· Serve as the Office Manager

Qualifications and Skills:

· Proficient in Quick Books Online

· Quickly adapts to new technology

· Detail oriented

· Collaborative approach to work

· Knowledge of month end closing procedures

· Desire for continuous improvement

· Strategic thinker and problem solver

· A passion for learning

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Proficient in Excel

Education and Experience

· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration (preferred)

· Minimum 5 years bookkeeping experience (construction industry preferred)

· Management experience a plus

Pay: $55,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
