Role Summary

The Controls Engineer is in charge of all SW related items pertaining to Manufacturing Engineering. This includes production support, trouble shooting, equipment definition and launch as well as continuous improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, support and assist in the maintenance of advanced equipment such as:
  • Laser sensors, LVDTs, vision systems, force / distance monitoring equipment, servo presses etc.
  • Responsible for all health & safety related issues in regard to new equipment being purchased.
  • Resolve manufacturing/production/engineering issues.
  • Investigate new technologies and current processes to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Commitment to quality and a safe and healthful work environment for all employees
  • Support production through equipment and software repairs and improvements
  • Process improvements to support Lansing’s ergonomic, safety, and lean initiatives
  • Support new business quotes: define process including lean initiatives, establish equipment requirements, and define cycle time and manpower requirements
  • Work with the corporate AME team to define SORs for new equipment, participate in tech reviews and sourcing activities for new equipment as well as co-operate with AME during the launch phase of additional machines etc.
  • Document all activities as required
  • Adhere to all company guidelines for Emergency Evacuation to ensure employee safety
  • Any additional responsibilities deemed necessary by management
  • Co-operate with Operations in the creation and maintenance of Standardized Work Documentation.

Required

Electrical, Software or Computer Science degree preferable

  • Competent decision making and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in PLC programming is required
  • Functional understanding of Rockwell FactoryTalk Networks
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment
  • Understanding in machining and assembly process
  • Able to work under extreme pressure

Preferred

  • Experience with High Level Programming Languages (C+, C#, VB.Net)
  • Working knowledge of Web interface programming (HTML/CSS & PHP)
  • Solid understanding of relational DB’s (MSSQL, Access)
  • Knowledge of OPC protocals and Kepware setup and maintenance.

Additional Information

Work environment

Office environment, with frequent visits to shop floor.

Physical Demands

Normal sitting and standing, average mobility to move around an office and plant environment, able to conduct normal amount of work on a computer.

Safety

Perform office duties in a manner which is consistent with good ergonomic practice, so as to minimize the risk of repetitive strain injury. When in the manufacturing area to do layered audits or any other purpose, follow all plant safety rules and always wear personal protective equipment (PPE) where required.

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • On call
  • Overtime
  • Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Pinson, AL: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Experience:

  • PLC programming: 1 year (Preferred)
  • functional understanding of Rockwell Fac Talk: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Programming Language C+, C#, VB Net: 1 year (Preferred)
