Coordinator for Fitness Staff Job at University of Maryland
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Full-time professional exempt staff position with full benefits. This position has major responsibility for hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and supervising student weight/fitness staff and supervisors (120) and one non-exempt staff, along with assisting in the oversight of informal weight/fitness spaces and equipment in the ERC, SPH, and Severn. Some evening and weekend work is required.
A breakdown of responsibilities include: Student Staff Supervision (40%), Student Staff Training and Development (40%), Administration and Management (10%), Other & Related Duties (10%)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have, as a minimum: a Bachelor’s degree, two to four (2-4) years cumulative experience working in a collegiate, community or commercial fitness environment, demonstrated supervisory, training, and development skills, strong communication and customer service skills, knowledge of weight and fitness equipment and facilities, knowledge of weight training and spotting techniques.
Preferred: Master’s degree; Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in kinesiology, exercise science, personnel administration or Health related field of study; American Red Cross First Aid/CPR Instructor certification; 2 or more years of professional experience in a collegiate recreation or community/commercial fitness environment.
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience, the range is $67,000 - $72,000.
