Starting annual salary in excess of $53,000 with no experience necessary!

Work Location: NW Regional Corrections Center, Crookston MN (Polk County)
SALARY Information:

Effective January 1, 2023, starting salary of $21.51/hour with no experience required. Wage increases to $22.37/hour upon completion of 6 months of employment. Additional wage increases to $23.26/hour upon completion of first 12 months of employment.

The hourly rate of pay does not include multiple wage/salary enhancements which significantly increase the average rate of pay! Additional compensation for shift differential, shift briefing, staff meetings, OT and holiday pay. Wage/salary enhancements and holiday pay add approximately $2.50/hour on average to the hourly rate of pay over the course of a full year. This number increases with each year of experience. First year salary for FT Corrections Officer with no experience estimated at approximately $53,350 for 2023 with opportunities for additional compensation through OT and call-in pay.

Part Time Positions include flexible hours and scheduling, including working around school schedules.

Duties include but are not limited to: Inmate supervision; inmate transports; searches; well-being checks; booking and release of inmates; meal delivery; medication delivery; security system monitoring and numerous inventories/counts.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Possess a high school diploma or GED.

2. Have a valid driver’s license and active automobile insurance coverage.

3. Successful completion & acceptable results of the required criminal history background check, pre-employment drug screening and all other testing and/or background investigation work required for the position.

Training provided in the use of: Taser; Pepper Spray; Defensive Tactics; Report Writing; Restraint Chair / Devices; Emergency Procedures; Communication Skills; Inmate Transports; and many other topics.
