Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources is seeking a dedicated and caring Crisis Intervention Team Regional Coordinator to oversee operations for the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT). The Crisis Intervention Team Regional Coordinator position is based in Hattiesburg, MS but will oversee CIT activities in the Pine Belt service area. This position plays a vital role in Pine Belt's ability to provide intervention education to law enforcement and other public agencies.


For 40 years, Pine Belt Mental Healthcare Resources has served individuals throughout the Pine Belt. Through an extensive continuum of care, we strive to enable adults with serious mental illnesses, children with serious emotional disturbances, and individuals with an addiction or developmental disability to live, work, learn, and participate fully in their communities. Our thirteen county service area includes Forrest, Jones, Harrison, Hancock, Lamar, Covington, Greene, Jeff Davis, Marion, Perry, Wayne, Stone, and Pearl River Counties.
  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Marketing/Public Relations, or behavioral health field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of issues related to living with behavioral health conditions required.
  • Excellent communication skills including public speaking; facilitation of meetings and trainings; and development and productions of various media including training manuals, grant reports, multi-media advertising required.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with law enforcement, service providers, and government officials.
  • Experience working with the CIT team a plus.
  • Some overnight travel involved in the position for trainings and conferences outside of the PBMHR service area.
  • Coordinates all CIT related activities, including supervising CIT staff and teaching selected sessions of CIT certification classes.
  • Manages the logistics and coordination of regular CIT training.
  • Recruits law enforcement officers and/or other related fields for regular and specialty CIT classes.
  • Facilitates and maintains an Advisory Committee to identify new training topics and provides advice on CIT activities.
  • Coordinates local support (NAMI, civic groups, local government, hospitals, etc) of program through communication and participation in stakeholder activities.
  • Reviews daily the CIT Contact Reports for quality and fidelity to the CIT Memphis Model.
  • Manages grant budgets associated with the CIT program.
  • Creates public awareness of the program by providing presentations to civic and other community groups and working with the Social Marketer to develop multi-media campaigns to educate the public about CIT goals and accomplishments.
