Nourish Culinary Educator

The Nourish Culinary Educator leads cooking classes and field trip programs on-site in the Nourish kitchens and off-site at schools, youth sites, and partner sites. Nourish Educators work directly in our farm-to-school and farm-to-community programs preparing and implementing education and experiences. Nourish programs are offered for all age ranges from as young as 3 years old in our Early Care Education, school age in our Good Food Club, and family programming through adulthood. Programs are delivered at schools, youth sites, partner organizations, and local companies. On-site programs include field trips, cooking classes, garden education, team-building and corporate wellness experiences. The Educator role will lead Farm-to-School and Farm-to-Community education programs along with support staff.

General Duties

Program Implementation and Design

· Implement Farm-to-Community workshops, dinner programs, and classes through food preparation and education delivery

· Facilitate Early Care and Education programs

· Facilitate Good Food Club programs

· Collaborate with Program Manager and staff on class content for programs, focusing primarily on culinary program offerings

Program Assistance

· Assist with special events, workshops, and classes

· Assist with delegation and implementation for individual and group volunteers for programs

· Assist with set up and take down for loft and kitchen programs

· Assist with light farm work, general office organization, and cleaning

File Organization, Record Keeping, and Data Entry

· Support volunteer data management

· Assist with financial record-keeping regarding program income and expenses

· Support data management for grant requirements

Communication

· Proactively work with Nourish staff and community partners for smooth programming

· Welcome and direct Nourish visitors

· Answer and respond knowledgeably to general emails, phone calls, and incoming mail

Kitchen Management Assistance

· Kitchen cleaning before and after programs

· Assist with scheduled deep cleaning of kitchen

· Recommend changes in kitchen practice or procedures

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience

· Minimum 2-3 years of education experience preferred

· Minimum 2-3 years culinary experience preferred

· Demonstrated experience in group leadership

· Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills

· Internet literacy, and proficiency using programs including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel

· Empower and treat others with respect and consideration

· Accept responsibility and accountable for actions

· Experience in and comfort with working in multicultural environments required

· Passion for improving our food system through good food and good food education a plus

· Knowledge of sustainable agriculture a plus

· Passion for mission a plus

Time Requirements

· The position requires some evening, weekend, and holiday work to support Nourish programs.

Reporting

· This position reports to the Program Manager

Work Environment

This job offers a flexible schedule and operates in a professional office environment, kitchens, gardens, schools and community centers. Nourish offers paid holidays, paid-time-off, and maternity/paternity leave. Some remote work opportunities available as duties allow.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, and various software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office, DropBox, Google, QuickBooks time, and the Internet.

Reports to: Nourish Program Manager

Compensation: Hourly, $17+, Negotiable Based on Experience
