As a Custodian 1 with Western Washing University (WWU), you will perform custodial assignments necessary to maintain the cleanliness and care of the institution's academic or residential facilities. These duties are performed in a team-cleaning model with each Custodian 1 position rotating through all of the essential job functions.

Both day shift and swing shift positions are available:

Day shift: Monday - Friday, 5:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Swing shift: Monday - Friday, 4:00 p.m. - 12:30 a.m.

Position Responsibilities:

• Restroom Maintenance: Restocking, emptying trash, spot cleaning and sanitizing, sweeping and mopping, and checking fixtures
• Light Duty: Wiping doorknobs/light switches, dusting, cleaning white/chalk boards
• Utility Maintenance: Floor and carpet care, vacuuming/sweeping, polishing stairs, restoring and maintaining floors, auto-scrubbing and burnishing floors, cleaning door glass
• Project Cleaning: Cleaning lockers and benches, cleaning walk-off mats
• Periodic Maintenance: Cleaning and restocking custodial closet, using custodial equipment as required, moving furniture and supplies/tools, reporting need for repairs/maintenance, washing easily accessible interior/exterior windows, using hand operated tools or small power equipment to remove debris, sweeping sidewalk/stairs, snow removal

Required Qualifications:

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a friendly and cooperative manner with students, staff, and faculty at all levels of the organization and in contacts with the public
• Demonstrated ability to effectively read, write, and follow oral, and/or written instructions as provided by supervisory personnel
• Demonstrated ability to work with computer hardware and software as required to track work orders and record time worked
• Six months or more of continuous professional work experience
