The Maine Department of Labor is seeking an outstanding Customer Service Representative! If you are detail-oriented and highly organized, have outstanding computer skills including experience navigating and pulling reports from databases and are an effective communicator both verbally and written, this may be the opportunity for you! Candidates must be able to take initiative, work well independently and as a collaborative team member. The flexibility of this position allows for your home base to be located in: Lewiston, Augusta, Bangor, Machias, Springvale or Presque Isle. Partial remote capability is an option.

While no two days are the same, on a typical day you can expect to:

  • Provide administrative support to staff with reporting, invoicing, and other program requirements.
  • Process documents needed to approve programs and customer services.
  • Manage a Power Automat/ Microsoft Form-built database and connect to resources to improve tools.
  • Ensure complete, accurate, and timely data and document collection for customer tracking and financial systems.
  • Take accurate and comprehensive minutes of meetings and then distribute them to an established distribution list.
  • Communicate effectively with collaborative partners to update the Health Care Training for ME website with upcoming training opportunities and programmatic changes.

Minimum qualifications:

Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of the principles and practices of quality customer service to perform complex work in assisting the public with applications, fees, examinations, or social services that have an eligibility or compliance component; and 2) the ability to use independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process, and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures.

All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Customer Representative Assistant I, Customer Representative Assistant II and Customer Representative Associate I.

Preference will be given to those applicants with:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with information and systems management
  • Experience using databases, collecting data, and data analysis
  • Experience supporting programs and program staff
