Day Operator
Huntsman is seeking a Day Operator supporting the Performance Products Division located in Conroe, Texas. This position will report to Kettles/UPA Operations Manager.
Position Summary
Oversees operation and availability of Kettles systems for the plant. When needs exceed the capability of the shift, leads the efforts to acquire other resources to resolve the issue(s).
As the Day Operator you will:
- Promote a safe work environment, including good housekeeping habits.
- Help Kettles & U/PA operators with Hot Work, Start Work, and Confined Space Entry Permits with writing responsibility for Excavation Permits.
- Create ECPs for scheduled maintenance work in the Kettles & U/PA area. Maintain expertise and ownership of RAPNET system.
- Provide guidance, direction, and coordination with Maintenance & Inspection employees to ensure equipment is safe and ready to work on to meet targeted completion. Attends daily maintenance update meeting.
- Ensure the minimization of Process Wastewater, including communication with unit operators, in the management of the proper routing of sewer flows throughout the Plant.
- Coordinate Kettles & U/PA activities to meet environmental regulations.
- Lead and document RCA’s as needed and support PSM activities for the Kettles & U/PA area; assisting in resolving corrective action items, participating in PHA’s and LOPA studies.
- Submit work requests for equipment repairs and safety items as needed.
- Be the area contact for T&Is and shutdowns as required.
- Overall workflow directed by UPA Team Lead and Kettles/UPA Operations Manager. Daily work as directed by Shift Supervisors as daily requirements within the department are subject to change depending on circumstances.
- Must qualify as D-Kettles or G-Kettles outside operator and Utilities side UPA operator within one year of starting as Day operator to assist with daytime coverage of units in special circumstances as needed. Required to maintain area qualification.
- Provides coverage of responsibilities for other departmental Day Operator’s responsibilities during vacation time and other absences (Must have at least one Day Operator in the plant during regularly scheduled hours)
- Provides any additional support required during scheduled departmental T&Is/outages
- Assists in creating and evaluating JSA’s.
- Assist in investigating and developing recommendations to corrective actions and items identified by the Safety Department.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Process technology with 2+ years of experience with direct experience developing energy control plans is a plus.
- 5+ years of chemical plant experience may be substituted in lieu of degree with a preference for experience as a plant operator.
- Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs.
- Basic mathematical Skills.
