Design Engineer (manufacturing & tooling exp. req.) Description

Our client is looking for a Design Engineer to join their innovative team near South Bound Brook, NJ. This is an onsite position. You will be responsible for conceiving manufacturing processes that allow for the design, fabrication, and development of tooling prototypes used for customer evaluation. To achieve this, 70% of your time will be spent on technical assignments such as fabrication and programming with the balance of your time focused on typical project management activities. This is a hands-on role so you must have a tooling background with strong experience in CAD to be successful. Whether you have project management experience or are looking to expand your skillset with a role that offers more diversity and autonomy, this is an exciting opportunity to get in on the ground floor and work with customers to invent and develop essentially from scratch. If you prefer working in an environment with a lot of structure and documentation where you will constantly be told what to do day in and day out, this would not be a great fit. Design Engineer (manufacturing & tooling exp. req.) Responsibilities

• Partner with clients and cross-functional teams to develop and design
• Communicate cross-functionally to identify and request equipment and resources
• Create and fabricate tooling and fixtures that meet client expectations
• Perform material purchasing, inspection, packaging, and product shipment
• Manage suppliers and expedite project phases to ensure client deliverables
• Provide documentation to assist in developing production guidelines
• Offer technical support and overall product engineering during NPD
• Communicate with NPD engineers to transfer project learnings to production
• Participate in research and development including engineering studies
• Recommend improvements to the prototype quoting and scheduling process

Design Engineer (manufacturing & tooling exp. req.) Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required
• 2+ years of engineering experience within manufacturing required
• Tooling experience required
• Basic blueprint reading skills required
• Strong CAD skills required
