GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

The incumbent shall be responsible for preparing all new die purchase orders once drawing approval is received from the customer and any copy dies required for manufacturing, co-ordinating the preparation of all extrusion dies for press, communicating back to Die Shop issues or concerns regarding the running and/or quality of the dies and the tracking, storage, disposition of them and organization of the die room.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

This position reports to the General Manager.

Reporting directly to the incumbent is: Die Polishers

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• 1 to 3 years’ experience in a die room/tool room environment or relative experience.
• College Diploma / Skilled Trade Certificate in related area.
• Knowledge of Aluminum Extrusion would be preferred.

SKILL REQUIREMENT

• Ability to plan and organize
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Proficient in computer programs

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• With input from other departments the incumbent assists in resolving problems relating to customer quality issues and issues and follows up on corrective actions
• Keep in mind the company’s operating philosophy of…Cost…Quality…Service.
• Ensure Company meets customer purchase order requirements by applying established engineering principles consistent with design and product development.
• Purchase of new die orders, copy dies and maintain log of the activity.
• Co-ordinate the preparation of all dies for the press as per manufacturing schedule.
• Track, communicate the performance of all dies and co-ordinate the necessary corrective actions to improve die performance.
• Continually suggest, recommend and implement improvement ideas in the die room area.
• Perform Duties in compliance with ISO procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Be responsible for safety performance in the assigned areas:

• Take action to correct substandard acts or conditions.
• Observe and monitor employee safety,
• Ensure all OSHA standards are met.
• Use safety processes in all work and according to Dajcor Health & Safety, Environmental and Housekeeping Policies.
• Perform any other duties that may be specifically or generally assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

• 60% of time spent in the plant environment
• 40% office environment

HAZARDS

• May be exposed, on a limited basis, to hazardous elements while on the plant floor

• Majority of time spent walking/standing/sitting

• Constant production pressure
• Customer/Employee/Union concerns

• Normal attention required in completing paper work
• Special visual attention to quality defects
• Communication Skills in directing and listening to customer/employee concerns
