East Neck Nursing & Rehabilitation Center are looking for Dietary Aides for the following shifts:

  • 10am-2pm Staff Dining Room Diet Aide - Part Time
  • 2pm-8pm Tray Line Diet Aides - Part Time

*WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS ARE A MUST*

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the facility’s Food Service Director and Dietitian as necessary and implement recommended changes as required.
  • Ensure that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
  • Others as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed.

Staff Development:

  • Attend and participate in in-service training programs as required..

Dietary Service:

  • Prepare meal trays that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
  • Assist in serving meals as directed.
  • Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
  • Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Clean work tables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, etc.
  • Sweep and mop floors as directed.
  • Carry soiled utensils, etc., to wash area.
  • Return clean utensils to proper storage areas.
  • Wash and clean utensils as directed.
  • Carry out garbage and keep work areas clean, dry and free of hazardous equipment, supplies, etc.
  • Set up meal trays, food carts, dining room, etc., as instructed.
  • Assist cook in preparing meals..
  • Obtain food supplies for next meal.
  • Assist in checking diet trays before distribution.
  • Deliver food carts, trays, etc., to designated areas.
  • Serve food in dining room as instructed.
  • Perform dishwashing/pot washing/cleaning duties following established policies and procedures. Assure that utensils, etc., are readily available for next meal.
  • Remove food trays from carts, dining rooms, etc., and take to dishwashing area.
  • Prepare and deliver snacks, etc., as instructed.

Safety and Sanitation:

  • Prepare food, etc., in accordance with sanitary regulations, as well as with our established policies and procedures.
  • Follow safety regulations and precautions at all times.
  • Follow established Infection Control and Universal Precautions policies and procedures when performing daily tasks.
  • Wear Hat or hairnet at all times while in kitchen
  • Wear disposable gloves as per policy and procedure.
  • Ensure that the department is maintained in a clean and safe manner by assuring that necessary equipment and supplies are maintained.
  • Report all hazardous conditions/equipment to your supervisor immediately.
  • Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor on the shift in which they occur.
  • Assist in maintaining food storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner at all times.
  • Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies and procedures..
  • Follow instructions on SDS and report missing/illegible labels and/or SDSs to your supervisor.

Equipment and Supply Functions:

  • Ensure that food and supplies for the next meal are readily available.
  • Assist in inventorying and storing incoming food, supplies, etc., as necessary.

Resident Rights:

  • Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent residents care information.
  • Knock before entering a resident’s room.
  • Review complaints to the Supervisor and/ or Director of Food Services.

Miscellaneous:

  • Make only authorized food substitutions.
  • Assist in food preparation for special programs as needed...

Team Dynamics:

  • Effectively communicates with staff to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Creates a work atmosphere that promotes cooperation, respect, flexibility and teamwork amongst peers and staff.

Safety and Sanitation:

  • Follow all established safety policies and procedures when performing job duties and operating equipment.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to the supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions to the supervisor immediately.

Customer Service:

  • Maintains an adequate liaison with families, residents.
  • Demonstrates awareness, respect and concern for internal customers (coworkers) and external customers (i.e. patients, residents, families, physicians, referral sources)

Residents' Rights:

  • Maintains CONFIDENTIALITY of all resident care information to assure resident rights are protected.
  • Assures that the resident's rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints, are followed.

Attendance:

  • Observes rules, policies and regulations with regard to attendance, punctuality, appearance and professional attitude as established by the facility.
  • Employee must wear designated uniform and footwear while on duty.

Miscellaneous:

  • Conforms to the HIPAA Compliance Program and applicable facility policies for patient privacy.
