POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position oversees the operations of the Financial Aid Office while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies. The Director is responsible for all aspects of student aid to ensure accurate, prompt and effective service delivery. This position reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Financial Services and is a supervisory role. This position can be done REMOTELY.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and monitor the daily operations of the Financial Aid Office
Supervise, train, and evaluate the performance of staff
Oversee the hiring, onboarding and retention for the financial aid staff
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accrediting agency regulations, as well as institutional policies pertaining to student enrollment, Federal Student Aid, Veterans Administration and Department of Defense benefit eligibility
Interpret and implement federal, state, and other relevant regulations and policies
Collaborate with the Student Accounts Office to ensure efficient and accurate management of financial aid funds
Maintain relationships with outside agencies
Responsible for compliance with eligibility determination, financial aid awards and disbursements, and return of Title IV funds
EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS AND DESIRED SKILLS
Bachelor degree or higher required
Minimum of five years of experience with student financial aid operations required
Minimum of two years of financial aid management experience required
Knowledge of current student aid regulations and ability to interpret policies and regulations
Hands on knowledge of crossover payment periods and financial aid packaging with regard to borrower-based academic years (BBAY)
A functional knowledge of automated financial aid management systems is required. Proficiency in the use of software such as Anthology Student, Anthology FAS, NSLDS, and COD preferred.
Strong leadership skills required
Exceptional analytical and problem solving abilities
Able to effectively communicate orally by telephone and in writing.
Able to work in a positive team-oriented manner with a variety of people (students, faculty, staff, administrators, vendors, and members of the general public).
