Virginia Western Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under the Virginia Community College System, a statewide system of community colleges. The College operates under the policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Virginia Western Community College Local Advisory Board.
Virginia Western is located on a 70-acre campus in southwest Roanoke, VA. The service region of the College includes Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. The College was established in 1966 and has grown from an initial enrollment of 1,352 to its current annual enrollment of over 9,000 students in credit courses and more than 1,400 enrollments in fast-track workforce and continuing education courses.
Virginia Western Community College is accepting applications for a Director of Financial Aid, Veteran Affairs, and Records. This is a full-time, twelve-month administrative faculty position, reporting directly to the Dean of Student Affairs. The Director of Financial Aid, Veteran Affairs, and Records is responsible for the professional direction of the institution’s comprehensive programs of student financial aid, veterans’ affairs and records office. General direction is provided to each functional area. The incumbent develops strategic plans, budgets, operational goals and assessments of program effectiveness. Serves as a member of the Student Affairs management team.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, Business Administration or related field. Experience with financial aid in a college/university setting. Experience interpreting and applying policy. Experience with audits and other reporting requirements. Management experience leading a department or team, including personnel, performance, and budget management. Excellent communication skills, including presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Management experience in a higher education financial aid setting. Experience in financial aid at a Commonwealth of Virginia college or community college setting.
