Job Summary:

Responsible for planning, organizing, and executing all IT functions for Canterbury Park. Acts as the senior escalation point for IT operational problems in a 24/7, 365-day environment. Responsible for supporting the Company’s mission, vision, and values by providing fun and games like no place else and adheres to the Canterbury Way by focusing on our core values of family, fun, integrity, and community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example.
  • Responsible for maintaining a high degree of hospitality, as well as a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Creates high levels of morale, fosters teamwork, inspires collaboration, delegates effectively and coaches and mentors direct reports for growth opportunities.
  • Oversees all IT operations, projects, maintenance, and infrastructure.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of long-term IT strategies.
  • Manages the Company's IT SOX compliance program and acts as a central point of contact and subject matter expert to ensure appropriate internal controls (manual and system) over IT systems are properly designed and implemented.
  • Develops, maintains, and updates IT policies as needed.
  • Manages the Company’s IT Help Desk through scheduling, documentation, goal setting, and issue resolution.
  • Leads the company’s cyber security efforts by identifying vulnerabilities in networks, software systems, and data centers with while working with internal and external resources to mitigate risks.
  • Oversees IT asset management and inventory by reviewing and approving all software and hardware purchases, disposals, upgrades and customizations.
  • Oversees the company’s data backup and recovery plans.
  • Manages the IT operating and capital budgets.
  • Works collaboratively with internal teams to promote the Fun and Games program.
  • Coordinates requests between internal business units and external IT vendors.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Supervision:

  • Information technology managers
  • Support technicians (indirectly)

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or related field.
  • Prior experience managing IT infrastructure for a publicly traded company.
  • Prior experience managing a team of IT professionals.
  • Prior experience writing IT policy and procedure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with a multiple stake holders and subject matter experts.
  • Able to develop and present IT plans to c-suite and board level executives.
  • Proven project management skills required.
  • Ability to become intimately familiar with existing hardware and software.
  • Ability to possess a general understanding of all business units.
  • Canterbury Park conducts pre-employment screening for all positions which includes a criminal background check and verification of work history.
  • Must be able to attain a Minnesota Racing Commission (MRC) license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science preferred
  • Gaming and Hospitality background preferred
  • Experience managing outsource vendors preferred
