Job Title: Director of Process Engineering

Job Summary: The Director of Process Engineering is a senior-level position that has the primary objective to enhance the technological advantage of Azek. This objective is achieved by utilizing the talents of unique individuals to help develop, design and optimize complex manufacturing processes that require high levels of technology & automation. This position reports directly to the VP of Engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Directs a team of process engineers over multiple locations that are responsible for the following activities:

· Leads process continuous improvement efforts and works with R&D and Operations to validate Fit, Form, and Function.

· Reviews process alternatives provided by R&D to jointly ensure the most effective, timely, and economical solutions are provided.

· Direct and participate in Engineering studies to evaluate processes and/or equipment necessary to drive process efficiencies and OEE and meet cost reduction targets.

· Provide process engineering support and guidance as needed for process design and troubleshooting.

· Works with Finance to determine ROIs for process improvement projects.

· Investigates alternative process vendors to determine viability.

· Executes layout, installation, and start-up with R&D and Operations to ensure processes hit key deliverables, including all ESH and permitting requirements.

· Works with R&D to provide equipment-specific training to Manufacturing and Maintenance for new processes.

· Evaluates the technology, process, and viability of potential new acquisitions.

· Provides process support to Manufacturing Engineering for new capital installations.

· Coordinates process changes requiring capital expenditures with Manufacturing Engineering as needed.

· Develops process & equipment documentation (SOPs) and provides required training to Operations & Maintenance departments.

· Leads and supports process safety requirements such as Risk Assessments, HAZOP, MOC & PSSRs.

· Provide support for safety improvement opportunities that require process engineering expertise.

· Help develop and implement engineering and process safety guidelines, tools, and procedures for standardization and use throughout the company.

· Ensures site compliance with written programs, company guidelines, and accredited standards (ISO 14000, OSHAS 18001, NFPA, API, ASME).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required
  • Experience: 15+ years in Engineering and or Manufacturing directing technical personnel.
  • Detailed knowledge in chemical processes, solids handling and extruders desired.
  • Experience in PLC and/or DCS control systems a plus
  • Ability to hold high-level technology, process, and project discussions with internal customers influencing decision-makers or external agencies if warranted.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and execute multiple projects and assignments at various stages, within defined parameters and limits
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Strong technical and data analysis skills required
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically up to 30% when required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently sit, view a computer screen, and type on a keyboard for extended periods of time
  • Work on the operations job floor to troubleshoot issues, and execute the process and capital improvements.
  • Verbally communicate one-on-one and in front of large groups as necessary
  • Able to travel to and function in manufacturing plants throughout the company

Pay: $150,000.00 - $171,000.00 per year
