Summary/Objective

SKYLINE is currently seeking an experienced and innovative Safety Compliance Director who will oversee, troubleshoot and support changes in the NYC/NYS Building/Federal/Safety code requirements for our organization.

The ideal candidate requires a decisive individual who will hold him/her self and others accountable, all while demonstrating dedication to safety and quality, to maintain a strong customer relationship and client satisfaction.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitor and review all active Skyline Projects.
  • Keep Skyline up to date with City/State/Federal regulation on the jobsite and workers.
  • Schedule safety training classes and seminars with conjunction with Permit and Risk Management Department on continuing education on changes.
  • Work with Business Developers and Project Managers on jobsite infractions for non-compliance.
  • Call and direct meetings as required for all projects with multiple offenses/infractions with the Production team assigned to the jobsite.
  • On call with for emergency response/real time field reporting documentation, i.e. jobsite incidents, accidents, safety, injuries, property damage, etc. Provide all reporting to Risk Management department
  • Maintain a working relationship with all City/State and Federal regulatory agencies
  • Stop project for major infractions and safety compliance issues that do not follow company policies and/or governmental agencies rules and regulations. Lift stop when the non-compliance infractions are visually confirmed by compliance team inspector. Request a follow up meet with all production team members to discuss the situation and fines imposed, include the operating company’s president, production manager and risk management.
  • Assist Risk Management and Permit Department in lifting the stop work order imposed by a governmental regulator agency.

Education, Experience & Competencies

  • 8+ years of experience working in a Project Management or Safety role in building restoration.
  • In depth knowledge of the NYC construction market and NYC DOB Codes.
  • Expertise in façade repair, roof replacement, waterproofing, concrete repair and sidewalk vault restoration on residential, commercial and institutional projects.
  • Proven experience in landmark and historic preservation a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and successfully complete complex multi-million dollar projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of production processes, means and methods, compliance, site safety and on-site requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Skilled in conflict and crisis management.

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office and jobsite setting. The position requires extensive client interfacing and requires rotation between remote and physical work environment. This position uses standard office equipment.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to maintain a stationary position, ascend/descend and traverse. The position also requires frequent use of computers and other office productivity machinery. At times, duties may involve transporting items of appx. 25 pounds and working around outdoor weather conditions. The position is expected to require prolonged periods of communication, perceiving, and expressing oneself.

Travel

80% local travel is expected for this position.
