Director of Sustainability

Act as the Sustainability lead at alice + olivia, to accelerate the sustainability transformation journeys across key functions: product make, indirect procurement, supply chain and logistics, circular retail models, infrastructure, and human impact. Scale best practices and lessons learned. Own and manage a 3-year sustainability roadmap for sustainability initiatives and internal change management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy (25%)

  • Shape and maintain a 3-year sustainability roadmap and financial business case across all functional teams: product make, indirect procurement, supply chain and logistics, circular retail models, infrastructure, and human impact
  • Act as the liaison for sustainability partner organizations including onboarding partner, use of tools and resources, attending collective action workshop
  • Provide a quarterly update on sustainability headlines and innovations to brand’s leadership team(s)

Cross-Functional Coordination and Implementation (50%)

  • Develop a Vendor Code of Conduct reflecting the appropriate sustainability practices and traceability requirements
  • Provide cross-functional program management support to ensure sustainability targets are met on time and on budget
  • Create and implement standard operating procedures based on proposed process, organization, and tool changes
  • Implement a continuous improvement plan to drive mass adoption of sustainability practices, influencing decisions within existing roles and functions
  • Own the execution of any sustainability audit requirements

Communication and Reporting (25%)

  • Develop and execute communications with our factories as we implement sustainable practices and our code of conduct
  • Scale best practices and lessons learned across the company.
  • Shape internal communications around progress and targets, presenting monthly.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong understanding of current sustainability challenges in the retail/consumer goods industry, sustainability certifications and industry groups
  • Ongoing awareness of industry trends, governmental regulations, and sustainability best practices
  • 5-10 years product sourcing experience in the apparel industry
  • Must be organized and able to collaborate across the company
  • Must have effective communication and presentation skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sustainability or similar field preferred

Salary and Benefits:
