Position Details
Ability to work with individuals and departments to assess and reconcile work/academic situations.
Must be self-directed and innovative, able to assess student needs in an effort to improve the retention/success rates of students.
Excellent organizational skills, oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated work experience with computers, Microsoft Office, and Windows. Ability to troubleshoot technical problems with computers and browsers.
Ability to communicate effectively and assist individuals from special populations and diverse backgrounds including various socio-economic, education, and ethnic backgrounds
Ability to multitask and work diligently under pressure.
Ability to work occasional evenings and some weekends as needed.
1 to 3 years’ experience in an office environment or working in a front-line service environment.
Experience administering and proctoring tests and assessments.
Knowledge of the American Disabilities Act (1990), Vocational Rehabilitation Act Section 504 (1973), and other federal and state statutes.
Knowledge of educational accommodations and plans to assist individuals with disabilities.
Provide support services to students with disabilities, Testing Center customers, and students in need of general or peer tutoring.
Schedule and participate in intake interviews; communicating to students the accommodation process and resources on campus; and refer students for other appropriate services.
Assist in determine eligibility for services and appropriately communicating information about disability accommodations and services
Assist with providing auxiliary aids and services, including materials in alternate formats, adaptive technologies, etc.
Collect, verify, and maintain disability documentation and other relevant information.
Document services, communication, and events by entering data into Colleague and office spreadsheets.
Work closely with the campus and college district to communicate services and further the goals of the department. Serve as an information resource liaison with the college’s instructional staff and service division.
Provide technical assistance to faculty, staff, and administrators
Educate faculty, staff, and administrators regarding legal requirements and other disability issues.
Make recommendations regarding program/campus access, including the purchase of adaptive technologies.
Implement systems for student tracking; coordinate with faculty and other student services staff on student activities, including referral of students for services.
Schedule and administering placement tests.
Coordinate testing: schedule with faculty, staff, students, and other third-parties.
Prepare and update communications, notifying students/monitors/faculty/staff information on services, schedules, guidelines, and procedures. Communication modes include flyers, handouts, webpages, Student Handbook, etc.
Answer and/or direct questions regarding testing, disability, and academic services to appropriate departments or individuals.
Understand and follow testing/service guidelines and procedures, particularly for individuals with special needs.
Assist students with instructional computer assisted testing/programs.
Resolve test-related malfunctions (scheduling, log-ins, software) and respond to additional issues as needed.
File and route assessment results to appropriate persons. Maintain files for optimum efficiency (for staff, faculty, and students).
Enter appropriate data into Colleague and third-party testing sites.
Ensure that all activities/services comply with internal and external procedures and regulations.
Prepare all Purchase Orders, Requests for Payment, Supply Requisitions, and Work Orders as requested by the Director.
Order and maintain testing and accommodations materials for timely services.
Assist Director in training student workers and tutors.
Perform all duties as needed to assist with strategies/activities of the Perkins Career & Technical Education Plan, especially with respect to the Access, Equity and Opportunity goals.
Execute procedures compliant to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Vocational Rehabilitation Act Section 504 (1973), and other state/federal statues related to Testing & Academic Services.
Attend training sessions on Perkins-related topics, CTE, disability service laws/services and other pertinent college priorities.
Understand and implement all confidential information security policies: FERPA, GLBA, HIPA, Red Flag, etc.
Assist with special projects as needed. Areas will include recruitment, retention, assessment of student learning, and departmental assessments.
Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
