Job Title: Distribution Manager

Reports To: Site Manager

Status: Exempt

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Distribution Manager directs the overall warehousing and distribution operation and leads a distribution management strategy that supports organizational success. The Distribution Manager supervises the team at the facility and manages the receiving, storing, inventory levels, and shipping of finished goods to customers. The planning and execution of operational activities in line with the company’s budget, addressing issues within the organization, and driving through problem solutions are critical responsibilities of the Distribution Manager.

CORE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Contribute to the outstanding reputation of the company by always putting the customer first, treating fellow associates with respect, and conducting business with highest integrity

· Create a strong worker safety program and an injury free culture

· Examine warehouse including equipment and schedule any necessary maintenance or replacements

· Review incoming and outgoing shipments daily and proactively address issues, and respond to orders efficiently to ensure products are received or delivered in a timely and accurate manner

· Monitor warehouse workers and associated activities, assist those with concerns or problems on the work floor

· Plan projects, set employee objectives, and conduct annual performance reviews

· Establish standard operating procedures and ensure associates are adequately trained

· Implement and maintain a facility layout plan that streamlines the storage and retrieval of goods

· Ensure delivered product is stored in an organized manner for quality maintenance and accessibility

· Ensure accurate inventory levels are reflected in the ERP system and quickly resolve discrepancies (perform inventory and cycle counts and work closely with Sourcing to maintain proper inventory levels).

· Utilize tools such as FIFO, 5S and other Six Sigma Lean principles to improve the overall efficiency of the warehouse

· Address logistical problems and furnish solutions to these issues

· Properly investigate and respond to RGA’s in a timely manner and develop action plans to prevent reoccurrence

· Drive synergies between distribution, sales, customer service, and sourcing

· Work with operations and logistics leadership to drive cost savings and enhancements to customers

· Determine and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for customers in products and service

· All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in warehouse management and distribution center experience is required. Knowledge of quality systems and standards, and health and safety standards/compliance needed. Background in continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or lean manufacturing is preferred. Basic ERP skills and knowledge is essential. Ability to manage time and organization of multiple priorities and projects is required. Ability to think critically, problem solve efficiently, make decisions, and communicate effectively are all essential. Attention to detail and strong time management skills are key. Experience in negotiating effective outcomes for team members and the business is important, including contract negotiation, vendor management, and conflict management. Computer proficiency in company required software and Microsoft Office (outlook, word, excel) is needed. Bachelor’s degree preferred in Operations, Management, Supply Chain, or Engineering.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to communicate orally in a clear, concise and effective manner with the customers, account representatives, company representatives, management, staff, and the public in face-to-face, one-on-one and group settings. Ability to use a telephone for communication. Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance at the facility. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Use office equipment such as a personal computer, copier and facsimile machines. Ability to communicate in writing in a clear, concise, and effective manner. Sit or stand for extended time periods. Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges. Read at, above, and below shoulder height. Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch. Sufficient manual dexterity required to operate office equipment. Tolerate inclement weather, including excessive heat and cold. Normal range of tolerance to household and other types of typical industrial/construction chemicals and solvents. Must have the ability to travel domestically, by plane, operate a motor vehicle, maintain a valid state motor vehicle driver’s license, and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle driving record. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and overnight travel required. The work schedule can range from 40 to 60 hours per week. The travel required for this position is up to 50%.
