This position involves training and coaching with respect to safety and New York State laws and agency policies.

  • Instructs and trains new transportation drivers in compliance with DOT and Article 19A of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Provides classroom and/or behind-the-wheel training to new drivers or re-training of current drivers. May provide other training to location personnel.
  • Will evaluate all drivers competency (strengths and weaknesses) while working with them and report back to Transportation Supervisor.
  • Will work with management to help design and implement safety trainings and initiatives to prevent accidents and promote safety.
  • While the focus of the position is on driver training, employee may also have other safety program responsibilities (e.g., accident investigation, forms compliance, safety meetings).
  • May be required to perform other duties as deemed necessary by Transportation Management.

A high school diploma or GED is desired. NYS CDL driver’s license with proper endorsements & 19A qualification required and a driving record acceptable to The Arc Mid-Hudson and basic computer knowledge are a must.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.97 per hour
