So what does a Home Performance Technician do? In a nutshell, their essential function is being primarily responsible for conducting source removal (commonly known as duct cleanings), installing indoor air quality products (humidifiers, UV lights, HEPA filters, etc.), performing minor duct modifications, and additional insulation duties as needed. You'll work as a 2-person team to provide timely, accurate and cleanly service to customers in accordance with company standards and procedures.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform IAQ duct cleaning and source removal services for residential housing. This includes cleaning the blower motor and coil, and sanitizing all ductwork
  • Explain and install all IAQ products; including but not limited to humidifiers, UV lights, and HEPA filters
  • Understand the fundamentals of airflow and how to properly install ductwork
  • Maintain a high standard of clean-up before leaving any job site. Be sure that all necessary touch-up work and clean-up is completed before leaving the job site
  • Working as a team with the crew helper to get the job done professionally, efficiently and in a safe manner
  • Understand the proper operating procedures of the spray equipment
  • Ensure that foaming and caulking are completed as necessary around windows, doors, etc. Use good judgment and caution to not over foam any areas
  • Trim and bag scrapped foam materials as it accumulates
  • Maintain a high standard of clean-up before leaving any job site. Be sure that all necessary touch-up work and clean-up is completed before leaving the job site
  • Assist with record keeping, material usage and chemical logs
  • Responsible for the vehicle upkeep, record logs and driving of vehicle; valid driver's license required

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • The ability to use various hand and power tools common to trade
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Previous experience with construction calculations, pressures, temperatures and measuring square footage for calculations preferred.
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to accurately record progress, notes and instructions in software; utilizing an iPad.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous HVAC experience
  • Basic sheet metal knowledge

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The employee must be comfortable working in tight spaces for an extended period of time in attics and crawl spaces as needed. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Compensation

  • Starting wage of $23 per hour (DOE) + Bonus/Incentives
  • Hours: 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (flexible start and end times depending on business needs)
  • Days: Monday - Friday
