Early Learning Child Care Partner (Multiple Locations) Job at Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows

Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows Reno, NV 89512

Come work in a group of Reno/Sparks child care centers that support not only the development of children in our care-infants and toddlers-but also the development of our teaching staff,

whether they are seeking a career with us or elsewhere.

As an early learning teacher, you’ll work independently and as part of a team to care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers aged 6 weeks to five years. You will have the opportunity to focus on the positive and on child development by:

  • learning developmentally appropriate strategies,
  • writing curriculums and lesson plans,
  • and being down on the floor participating in the children’s activities and play.

You’ll get support from a full and engaged admin team, including a behavior specialist dedicated to each center and directors that don’t hesitate to roll up their sleeves and change a diaper or to address incidents and behavior with parents.

These are some of the additional things you will do working with infants and toddlers in our early learning centers:

  • Use Pre-K standards to administer assessments and share those results with parents regularly.
  • Embrace trauma-informed care.
  • Meet all day-to-day needs of the children under our care, including diapering and meals.
  • Complete a variety of professional development courses, including courses on nutrition and child development.
  • Maintain the safety of our children and staff, and ensure an optimal experience for all.

In exchange, our centers offer extensive benefits:

  • We offer all full time employees (scheduled 30 hours or more per week) 100% employer-paid medical, vision, and dental plans. All full time employees also receive complimentary Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, and Life Insurance coverage.
  • Part time employees are enrolled for complimentary TeleHealth Advocacy mental health services.
  • When we say we nurture great connections and build great futures, we don’t just mean for the students; as a member of our ELC team, you’ll strengthen your future as well through annual tuition reimbursement, the TEACH program, assistance with getting a CDA, and a 7% pension plan.
  • Plus, both full time and part time employees are eligible for PTO.
  • Free or reduced cost child care is also offered, subject to availability.
  • Pay starts at $14/hour up to $17/hour, depending on full-time/part-time status, experience, and education.

This is what your day could look like as a child care partner with our early learning centers:

  • This role can be either full time or part time, with flexible part time scheduling to accommodate personal life or class schedules. We always aim for consistent schedules for our staff to promote work-life balance.
  • Our locations are open Monday through Friday, from 6:30am to 6pm. Currently available part time shifts are:
    • 6:30am/7am to 9am/9:30am,
    • and 12:30pm to 6pm.
  • We have five locations throughout Reno/Sparks, and while teachers are assigned to one location, reliable transportation to all sites is preferred.
  • Our students range from 6 weeks to 5 years and are generally grouped into six age-based classes; teachers are expected, however, to be able to work independently and as a team with all age groups.

We have great teachers that can teach you skills on the job, but there are some actions and goals that will make you more successful as an early child care teacher.

  • You know that child care settings have more to do than educate, so you greet each child by name and take an interest in their families and lives.
  • You want to do more than just work; you want a role that gives back and supports the community.
  • You believe that uniqueness should be celebrated and support including all persons, regardless of background or beliefs.
  • You respect your team and communicate when you are experiencing difficulty meeting responsibilities.
  • Experience with MS Word and Brightwheel are also preferred.

If you have experience working with children or are actively pursuing a degree or certification in working with children, it could be the perfect job for you.

As part of our commitment to child and member safety, there are some additional steps that all hires will be asked to complete.

  • You will need to provide 3 references. These references should be professional references, but references from non-family members over the age of 18 who can speak to your character and professionalism can be substituted in the absence of work experience.
  • You will also be asked to complete a drug screen (which does not include THC), background check, and fingerprint check.

We have a commitment to being GREAT.

At our Reno/Sparks Early Learning Centers, you’ll have the opportunity to lead a great life, inspired by GREAT values: Generosity, Respect, Encouragement, Accountability, and Trustworthiness. The Early Learning Centers are committed to practicing those values to create places where every child feels safe and connected—a place to belong and a place to become—and a fun, positive work environment where you can be sure you’re making a difference.
