Our client in Cantonment, FL is looking for E/I Designer. This position requires almost no travel, but you will be required to obtain a TWIC card. You will be a member of a multi-skilled project team and will be responsible for designing and executing the E&I portion of various analyzer systems/buildings, power equipment centers, PLC panels, and other electrical control system panels. In addition, this role includes aiding and developing detailed job plans, documentation packages and shop fabrication packages.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Create and design a complete construction/build package meeting the requirements of a project scope document using P&ID and I/O list.
  • Such packages may include:

◦ Drafting and preparation of project drawings.

◦ Instrument index, instrument layout / location drawings, electrical equipment layouts, material take- offs, I/O lists, loop drawings and termination details, cable lists and block diagrams.

Control room, analyzer, and building layouts and design.

Analyzer system configuration, including the analyzer installation, sample conditioning system (SCS), instrument and signal wiring, electrical wiring, process and utility piping and tubing, and special data systems customized for the analyzer installation

Design safety systems specific to the analyzer systems installation; structural and packaging to physically support the analyzer systems; and any and all analyzer systems enclosures are also parts of the complete analyzer/control system.

◦ Single line, motor elementary and grounding diagrams.

◦ Lighting layouts.

◦ Cable sizing for instrumentation and low voltage wiring.

◦ Cable tray layout and sizing for instrumentation, power and low voltage wiring.

◦ Field inspection of plant sites and equipment.

24VDC schematics for power, control and shutdown circuits. 120VAC schematics for power and control.

DCS panel, PLC panel, junction box, and control layout and schematics.

Design of communication systems using fiber optic cables, profibus and/or Ethernet.

◦ AC and DC interconnects as well as conduit and cable schedules.

◦ Safe installation of vendor supplied systems.

  • Travel to field locations and provide technical services for activities related to construction, equipment installation or plant modifications may be required.
  • Ensure inherent process safety is adhered to on all projects.
  • Execute projects safely, within budget and on schedule.
  • Ensure all projects meet the operability needs of the customer.
  • Work together with Instrument Designers, both internally and externally.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years design experience in industrial facilities
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and other documentation to translate into designed systems
  • Effective communication skills to review design packages with plant personnel
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure a complete project design without inferences or deficiencies
  • Familiar with electrical codes, equipment specifications, and various design standards such as OSHA, NEC, ISA, etc.
  • Comfortable providing creative, alternative solutions
  • Experience with and ability to read power and control circuits
  • Working knowledge in low voltage power system design
  • Working knowledge in instrumentation and control loop design
  • Familiar with Instrument specification sheets
  • Estimate E & I design man hours based on deliverables

Qualifications:

This is a technical position and requires basic knowledge of electricity. You will need a working knowledge of the
National Electric Code (NFPA 70), National Electric Safety Code (NFPA 70E), NEMA standards, and some IEC symbology.

  • Associate degree in Instrument or Electrical Design from an accredited University or Trade School or equivalent work experience.
  • Computer/CAD skills which include:

◦ Microsoft Office

◦ MicroStation, MicroStationV7-V8, MicroStation Reprographics, AutoCAD and/or equivalent software

◦ 3D software Solid works knowledge not required but helpful.

  • Analytical experience is a plus.
  • Highly motivated individual that can work productively in a self-directed manner with minimum supervision.
  • Able to adapt to and thrive in a fluid environment where priorities and directions may change regularly.
  • Open to continuous improvement with a passion for continual development and learning.

Salary & Benefits:

Salary: $ 40 - $ 60 per hour
