Electronics Production Technician Job at Seasats

Seasats San Diego, CA 92110

Seasats is looking for a skilled, build-savvy Electronics Production Technician to join our team as we accelerate manufacturing of our maritime vehicles. In this position, you will be responsible for supporting the build / assembly of the vehicle's cable harness, motors, sensors, batteries, and antennas. As an early member of the assembly team, you'll make critical contributions alongside experienced design and production engineers.

Key Traits/Skills:

  • Advanced soldering and cable splicing skills (minimum of 5 years / IPC certification preferred)
  • Experience terminating SMA and TNC connections onto coaxial cable
  • General electrical assembly experience (stripping cable jackets, tinning wire tips, crimping Molex connectors, SMD soldering)
  • Keen interest in building an organized, well-documented production process
  • Enough patience, finger dexterity, and attention to detail to correctly place 12 or more 20/22 AWG wires into a connector
  • Communication skills, teamwork, and humility
  • Nice-to-haves:
    • Experience assembling battery packs (spot welding)
    • Experience with potting, epoxies, and adhesives

The Details:

Your daily responsibilities will depend on your specific skills and our production phase. As examples, though, you might expect some of the following tasks:

  • Measuring, cutting, and terminating wires to build vehicle cable harnesses
  • Conducting quality control checks on your and other people's work
  • Building battery packs
  • Installing electrical assemblies in hulls
  • Documenting production processes and identifying areas for efficiency improvements

It won't always be glamorous work; you may sometimes need to hunker down and spend a week straight doing SMA terminations. You will, however, be part of a fun and hardworking team. You'll get to help build and refine our production process, and you'll quickly see your work deployed in the field. Finally, you'll also receive a competitive salary, health insurance, stock options, and other perks that go along with being part of a rapidly growing ocean tech company.

We're committed to helping new team members succeed by ramping up with well-scoped projects and regularly taking the time to discuss where things are working and what needs to change. We're also big on personal freedoms: if you're on top of your responsibilities and want the afternoon off to surf, play with your dog, or do whatever you want to do, go for it! We have flexible hours, a flexible time off schedule, and a personable, kickass work culture. We want someone who's stoked to contribute in and to this environment.

We appreciate diverse perspectives and life experiences and so encourage people of all backgrounds to apply. Note, however, that we are currently unable to sponsor employment visas, so candidates must be independently authorized to work in the United States.

We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
