Elementary Instrumental Orchestra Teacher (PTS) and Choir Director -
The State College Area School District is currently accepting applications for a part-time PTS Elementary Instrumental Strings Teacher for grades 4 and 5 for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year. This position will include small group instrument lessons for fourth and fifth-grade string students on violin, viola, cello, and double bass. The position may involve lessons at several buildings. Additionally, the position may include additional hours to oversee a grade 4 and 5 choral ensemble at one or two schools.
The District seeks dynamic, energetic educators who are student-focused and have knowledge of both theory and practice specific to the education of elementary instrumental learners including, but not limited to, teaching proper string technique and tone production, fostering a positive and fun learning environment where creativity is encouraged, collaborating effectively with elementary string faculty, aligning with the SCASD string curriculum to equitably support string students, and communicating well with families, administration, and colleagues.
Organizational and collaborative skills are critical to success in this position. The District is searching for candidates who demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and development and also possess a variety of professional experiences. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to diversity and recognize equity and inclusivity as the foundations to prepare each student for lifelong success, our mission. This candidate must be willing to work with colleagues within the music department, as well as the teachers in each building, to provide the best instrumental education for students.
