The district seeks a highly qualified and knowledgeable Elementary School Principal in grades K-5 to join our community of practitioners. Job Goals:
The Principal reports to the Superintendent of Schools and leads the school's day-to-day operations by ensuring that educators, staff, and volunteers provide a nurturing, safe, and supportive environment where students' academic, arts, athletics, social-emotional learning, and independence are encouraged and respected. The Principal is committed to fostering equity, inclusion, and belonging and leading their school community to become an anti-racist community through shared vision, aligned goals, and courageous conversations. The Principal is committed to high expectations for all and values the school as a place of community, strong family partnerships, and collaborative leadership.

The Principal works collaboratively with the District Leadership Team and other school and district leaders to ensure the district achieves its organizational goals and objectives. In doing so, the Principal should cultivate leaders within our schools who can become future leaders in the district.

Reports To:

EDUCATION AND TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
?Master’s degree from an accredited college or university, with graduate level courses in school administration and educational
leadership with
?A minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience in an elementary school setting, (5) years preferred.
?Have successfully demonstrated knowledge of elementary school philosophy and practices.
?Record of success in leading adults; labor relations and supervisory experience required.
?Documented training and skill in evaluating and assessing teacher performance and knowledge of clinical supervision.
?Have successfully demonstrated skill in promoting sensitivity awareness, cultural diversity, and active anti-racism.
?Demonstrated skill in human relations, communications, leadership, budgeting, and organizational theory.
?Demonstrated experience with or knowledge of site-based management.
?Experience supporting educators to meet high expectations for all students.
?Provides professional learning, feedback, and support for educators to engage all students as active learners of meaningful,
standards-aligned, and grade-appropriate content

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE REQUIRED:
?Rhode Island Licensure as an Elementary Principal.

Instructional Leadership
?Uses data to differentiate instructional support and interventions. Supports teachers in using data to differentiate instruction.
?Exhibits a commitment to equity and creates a sense of urgency to close achievement gaps and prepare all students for college
and career success.
?Leads the School Improvement Team in developing, implementing, and evaluating the School Improvement Plan. Keep the staff
informed and seek ideas for the improvement of the school.
?Serves as the instructional leader of the building staff and articulates a clear and compelling vision founded in strong and
sustainable student achievement outcomes.
?Guide the development and implementation of effective curriculum, instruction, and assessment, along with target interventions,
leading students to become self-directed learners prepared for success in secondary school and future college and career
success.

School Culture
?Works collaboratively with teachers to collect and analyze student needs and achievement data, including state assessments
and other pertinent information affecting the design and implementation of services and programs. The information is used to
recommend new programs and modifications to existing programs.
?Builds an engaged, respectful, and inclusive school community.
?Establishes collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve objectives.
?Creates a positive and safe environment for teachers, students, families, and the community.

Family and Community Engagement
?Successfully engages most families and sustains their active and appropriate participation in the classroom and school
community.
?Utilizes various strategies to build awareness of families' cultures and uses this knowledge to reach out to most families in
culturally respectful ways.
?Regularly uses two-way communication methods that support frequent, proactive, and personalized communication with families
about student performance and learning.

Fiscal Systems
?Experience developing an equity centered budget.
?Manage comprehensive operating and capital expenditures budgets
?Collaborate with principals, Director of Pupil Personnel, ELA Coordinator of Instruction, and Curriculum PrK-12.

students

?Exhibits attributes of reliable attendance, promptness, dependability, and professional ethics
