B² Community Care is looking to hire an Employment Specialist to help cover Polk County, Marion County and Yamhill County. Our home facility is located in McMinnville, OR and travel to the main facility is also necessary for scheduled meetings/events. A valid driver license and good driving record are required, as well as a preliminary background check and references upon request. If the position is offered and accepted, part-time working to full-time hours can be expected and weekend and evening shifts may not be required, but availability is essential.

General

Assist individuals in obtaining competitive integrated employment opportunities in the community, using customized employment strategies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Approach businesses and learn about their operations, take tours, and look for opportunities to employ individuals with diverse abilities.
• Provide education and technical assistance to prospective employers on the benefits of employing workers with diverse abilities.
• Analyze job tasks and the potential for work modifications, and match individuals to appropriate job assignments. Use creative “outside the box” strategies to help supported individuals achieve successful outcomes. Ensure health and safety of workers.
• Learn how to perform various jobs at employment sites to demonstrate and work with individuals during initial on the job training to coach performance. Provide on site support and encouragement and advocate for the individual as needed.
• Observe the work site’s culture and assist the worker in building social bonds with supervisors and co-workers for integration and natural support.
• Communicate verbally and in progress notes with program managers, job developers, support staff, employers, funding sources and other advocates to ensure a clear understanding of worker’s progress and continued support, as needed.
• Manage a caseload of approximately 10-15 individuals and write and submit timely progress reports.
• Act as a liaison with key community stakeholders, including: service coordinator/personal agents, vocational rehabilitation counselor, home support system/guardian to support work attendance.
• Assist individuals with job preparation activities such as resumes, cover letters, mock interviews and help set up transportation as needed.
• Provide Discovery/Career Exploration/Targeted Vocational Assessment services in the community and develop a vocational profile which provides employment-related information essential to the development of the individual’s career goals.
• Keep apprised of general labor market trends, including health and safety considerations.
• Ensure all required documentation is complete, timely, accurate and representative of a professional organization. Follow licensing regulations, agency policies and practices, and assure protection of individual rights and safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Employment Division Director.

Minimum Qualifications

• JDOT/JPSCT, 12 Core Competencies, 6 months experience job coaching/job development and 1 year of experience in ID/D development or Human Services. QMHA and bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.
