Delta Community Supports is seeking an insightful, team-oriented employee to serve as Employment Specialist reporting to the Program Manager of Supported Employment. Marketing and or sales experience preferred, in an effort to initiate contact with employers to develop job opportunities for our individuals. The identified candidate will support the individuals that we serve on a daily basis. This team member will join our organization at a critical time and assist with providing first-class service to our support recipients and other key stakeholders. This position will support the Bucks County region.

Position Summary

The Employment Specialist provides employment support to adults and youth in a community setting which supports the interests and needs of individuals, often with disabilities, including intellectual disabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitates pre-placement activities for individuals seeking employment.
  • Assists each individual in learning his/her work schedule, company rules, job duties, workplace culture, layout of the job site and public transportation. Provide on-the-job training to the extent that it is not available at the job site.
  • Performs work responsibilities at the job site to the extent that the individual needs support to perform them to the employer’s specifications.
  • Maintains a direct relationship with each individual to facilitate social membership, the development of natural supports in the workplace, and community inclusion.
  • Identifies needed accommodations at the job site and arrange for them to be made by the employer, support recipient or other appropriate party.
  • Coordinates transportation to and from job interviews, job fairs and job sites as needed.
  • Provides back-up coverage for co-workers on an as needed basis.
  • Provides information about supported employment to potential support recipients, co-workers, employers and other company personnel.
  • Initiates contact with employers to develop job opportunities for individuals.
  • Initiates and maintains communication with residential personnel, workers’ family members, employers and support staff.
  • Provides follow-along support to both workers and employers to ensure continued successful employment; and assist workers as needed with negotiating for job enhancements.
  • Maintains employment database and case files consistent with regulatory, funding and accreditation agency standards.
  • Participates in Individual Support Plan, Interdisciplinary Team, support circle and other meetings as necessary to develop and maintain employment for workers.
  • Attends team meetings and training programs.
  • Transports individuals in personal and company vehicles as required.
  • Cooperates with company and regulatory agency personnel during any inspection or investigation.
  • Prepares required and requested reports for the company.
  • Participates in agency, departmental and program meetings as required.
  • Participates in Delta’s Continuous Quality Improvement efforts through active committee involvement.
  • Promotes and demonstrates ethical and professional conduct at all times ensuring employees conduct themselves in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Promotes continuous quality improvement projects and ongoing performance measures.
  • Promotes and address Delta’s Risk Management Program for the health and safety of individuals and employees.
  • Performs such duties that may be assigned for providing excellent customer service for the most effective operation of the company.

Position Qualifications

A high school diploma or G.E.D. required; Bachelors degree preferred. At least two (2) year work experience providing community support to people with disabilities. Candidate must possess a valid driver's license for at least 3 years. Appropriate additional education may be considered in lieu of the required experience. Marketing and or sales experience preferred. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
