YAI's Brentwood WAVE program empowers people with disabilities to reach their vocational goals every day by providing prevocational/internship training at a variety of sites in the community. In addition to assisting people in learning new skills, the Employment Training Specialist will also support the people in our program as they seek to improve their communication and socialization skills by interacting with their peers and people in the community in innovative and creative ways. Brentwood WAVE and Employment Services also provide on-site job training and coaching services throughout Suffolk county to ensure that the people we support can obtain and maintain employment in the community.
Hours:
Monday - Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm or 8:00am - 4:00pm (some flexibility required on nights and weekends)

Requirements:

HS Diploma or GED required; BA Preferred

Valid Driver License required

Work or life experience supporting people with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred.

Ability to participate in 3-5 weekdays of paid NYS Mandated OPWDD initial training during normal business hours upon hire.

Tuberculosis test mandatory for most positions (provided FREE of charge by our Premier HealthCare clinic)

Compensation:

$18.00/hour
