Duration of Role: Two Years Plus

Pay: $45.50- $48.75/hour

As a Power Unit Development Engineer for John Deere Power Systems located in Waterloo, IA, you will design and execute test plans to optimize engine and aftertreatment system performance, critically analyze data, and present technical information/recommendations to support calibration, hardware selection, and controls development decisions

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Executes high level applications to more complex problems.
  • Analyzes assignments and determines engineering specifications which must be fulfilled for complex problems or projects of moderate scope.
  • Produces and/or evaluates possible design solutions to improve cost, quality and performance based on specialized knowledge of engineering applications. This may include possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel.
  • Compiles and furnishes necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design with possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel.
  • Provides technical support to marketing, manufacturing, quality and supply management organizations.
  • Develops and/or executes test or analysis plan for product verification and validation.
  • Applies knowledge of company products, policies and practices to provide economies through standardization of parts and products.
  • Manage a Performance & Emissions test cell, providing clear work direction for the test cell operators, and coordinating test schedules and experiments
  • Use simulation and modeling techniques to improve test coverage/efficiency.

REQUIRED:

  • Product test experience with familiarity of instrumentation and data acquisition
  • Demonstrated skills in data analysis and decision making
  • Demonstrated skills in technical communication

DESIRED:

  • Experience in performance and emissions calibration and development of heavy-duty diesel engines or aftertreatment
  • User experience with Next Generation Engine Controls
  • User experience with GT-Power
  • User experience with National Instruments DIAdem analysis software
  • User experience with Matlab and Simulink
  • Experience using Design of Experiment methodologies, modeling, and optimization techniques

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45.50 - $48.75 per hour
