Head Start is a national program that promotes school readiness for children from low-income families by enhancing their cognitive, social, and emotional development. We are looking for a highly motivated ERSEA (Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, and Attendance) Specialist to join our team. As an ERSEA Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that eligible children and families have access to Head Start programs and services in a timely and efficient manner. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders, including families, community organizations, and program staff.   • Conduct in-person or telephone/virtual interviews with applicants to obtain confidential and pertinent information from families for entry into the database system
  • Complete applications in a timely fashion following the Head Start Program Performance Standards and agency policies and procedures to establish eligibility for the Head start program.
  • Maintain good communication with referring community agencies and case workers in order to facilitate the application process for families in high need of services.
  • Document all communications and family updates regarding eligibility and enrollment as necessary
  • Establish relationships with community organizations to increase recruitment efforts for potential families.
  • Plan and/or attend recruitment events and program-sponsored activities
  • Monitor eligibility applications and re-enrollments for accuracy following the Head Start Program Performance Standards and agency policies and procedures
  • May monitor, track, and support all areas of ERSEA, as assigned
  • Responsible for training and supporting the on-boarding on new ERSEA Specialists
  • Participate in general ERSEA training opportunities to assist and support ERSEA Manager
  • Continue professional growth, formulates goals, seeks feedback, applies new skills, and participates as a team member with colleagues

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in social work, business or a related field. Education, certifications, training and experience will be considered.
  • Requires one to three years of related experience. Requires a working knowledge of standard practices and procedures.
  • Head Start or Child Plus experience preferred
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Use of office equipment such as telephone system, fax, scanner, etc.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency and data entry accuracy
  • Focused attention to detail, well-organized and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Able to communicate in a professional manner through verbal/written means, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Requires a high level of confidentiality, personal integrity, and ethics.
  • Must gain extensive knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and agency procedures as they pertain to ERSEA.

Benefits

Child Start's Enrollment/ERSEA Specialist is $15.42 per hour, 40 hours per week / 52 weeks per year.
