Environmental Health and Safety Manager Job at Linde/Praxair Surface Technologies
Praxair Surface Technologies (PST), a subsidiary of Linde, plc, a supplier of atmospheric, process, specialty gases, high-performance coatings, and related services & technologies, is seeking a Safety Health and Environmental Manager for our Indianapolis, IN location.
The SH&E Manager is accountable for planning, organizing, coordinating, implementing and maintaining the plant's safety, health and environmental services activities to ensure maximum compliance with Corporate, Federal, State and local laws and regulations. This position represents a very high level of responsibility and individual contribution.
Safety Health and Environmental Manager
Monitors the safety, health and environmental performance of the site and recommend priorities and actions for improvement
Develops, implements, monitors, and updates all SH&E plans, programs, training materials and procedures, ensuring objectives are met
Develops, implements, monitors, and updates various safety programs while maintaining training records within databases, and periodically reports on compliance status
Plans and presents monthly safety meetings in accordance with training requirements
Performs internal audits of the site and other PST sites to evaluate SH&E compliance
Ensures and monitors on-site contractors’ compliance with company safety regulations
Develops, implements, monitors and is the primary coordinator of the plant’s work-related medical exam programs and provides effective case management with local HR.
Responsible for creating and maintaining waste profiles and manifests for shipping all site waste streams, including hazardous waste materials as well as plant’s environmental compliance.
Applies for and maintains all reports and permits for EPA, DEP, Department of Labor and Industry and local agencies
10. Maintains a thorough knowledge of any new general industry SH&E requirements and practices
11. Manages employee injury/illness cases, completes incident investigations and reporting, return to work, and leads RCA events.
12. Completes required Industrial Hygiene Sampling (including air and noise) of employees and work areas and implements necessary corrective actions as required for compliance and employee well being
13. Performs new employee and contractor orientations
14. Completes all online OSHA reports
15. Maintains site security programs
16. Supports Management of Change alongside the maintenance, engineering, and production teams
17. Keeps online and backup SDS’s up to date
18. Responsible for periodic reviews and updates to JSA’s and other business documents.
Requirements
· BA/BS
o Preferred - Occupational Safety, I/H, Environmental, or related discipline
- Minimum five years of experience
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred
- High energy, results-oriented
- Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively present complex topics in a concise manner
- Effective interpersonal skills dealing with people at various levels and in a variety of functions.
· Ability to compile, format and present safety subject matter in front of large groups on a frequent basis
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, must be able to effectively communicate up, down and across the organization
· Must be proficient in computer skills including Word, Excel & PowerPoint, able to navigate custom databases and on-line document management software
· Ability to work on teams, manage multiple tasks and interact with senior management
· Preferred candidate will have knowledge / experience in industrial safety, health, and/or environmental science
· Preferred candidate will have knowledge / experience in compliance
· Required to work in a manufacturing setting. (Not a work from home opportunity)
PST is a supplier which abides by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). As such, persons considered for this position must be either a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder) or otherwise classifiable as a U.S. person under relevant ITAR regulations.

Pay: $61,541.97 - $128,997.82 per year
