ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s Northeast region is looking for an Environmental Scientist to join our growing energy and environmental practice.

• Prepare state and federal environmental permits for public and private-sector projects
• Perform ecological investigations and studies
• Assist in wetland delineations
• Research and interpret environmental regulations and assess applicability to various project types
• Gather and interpret required environmental project-related data
• Prepare technical reports
• Prepare and review documentation for regulatory compliance (e.g., SEQRA, NYSDEC, USACE, BOEM and other relevant regulatory programs/processes).
• Prepare relevant sections of environmental impact statements and assessments
• Effectively interact with numerous VHB staff, clients, regulatory agencies, and consultants to advance projects in a timely manner

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with others
• Self-motivated with attention to detail

• BS in environmental science, natural resources, environmental planning, wetland science, soil science, ecological sciences, or related field
• 1-3 years of environmental natural resources experience required
