EMPSi has an immediate opening in our Kansas City, Portland and Reno offices (other offices can be considered for the right candidate) for an experienced geologist/ environmental scientist with a proven track record of successfully completing environmental studies, including Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The geologist/environmental scientist will be responsible for preparing technical reports and analysis for projects related to renewable energy development, resource management, water resources, and land use planning across the West.

Responsibilities include:

· Author geology, minerals, paleontology, and soils resource sections for complex NEPA documents for land use plans, energy development projects, projects related to water resources, and other infrastructure projects

· Assess development potential and create projections of future development of oil and gas, coal, and other mineral and energy resources within project planning areas

· Contribute to EMPSi’s culture of teamwork and empowerment by assisting in other roles as needed, including public outreach, data management, field studies, project management, and report writing

Required experience:

· Bachelor's degree or higher in geology, engineering, environmental sciences, or related earth sciences, with 2-5 years of relevant planning experience

· Excellent verbal and written skills; interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate on a large multi-disciplinary team; and organization and data management skills

· Working knowledge of NEPA; knowledge of other environmental laws such as the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act a plus

· Experience working with federal land and water management agencies

· GIS experience a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $61,000.00 - $93,550.98 per year
