The External Loads Engineer at Bell is responsible for the development of externally applied loads to the air vehicle. The External Loads Engineer will evaluate developing and mature designs to determine their impact on the air vehicle and ensure compliance with government certification standards as well as industry and Bell best practices. The External Loads Engineer will work closely with various disciplines through all phases of aircraft and trade study execution. This position is based at Bell’s Ft. Worth, TX headquarters facility.
Position Responsibilities:
Development of air vehicle dynamic and static load conditions and values.
Review flight test data to establish an external loads data base for which parametric loads and loads conditions can be developed.
Build and execute flight simulations of loads conditions to generate aircraft body forces and inertial loads.
Coordinate with design IPTs, Internal Loads, Dynamics, Mass Properties, Handling Qualities and Aerodynamics to ensure flight simulation model and load cases are consistent and applicable to aircraft design and intended usage.
Maintain up to date external loads and simulation models.
Prepare and maintain the aircraft Structural Design Criteria and External Loads Report.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline is required.
Position Requirements:
2+ years in External Loads Engineering or related engineering discipline.
Demonstrated experience in external loads, test, and verification.
Must have the ability to prioritize tasks and work assignments.
Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Previous experience in Flight Sciences (loads, dynamics, aerodynamics, handling qualities) is required.
Familiarity in 6 DOF flight simulation modeling, flight test data analysis, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.
Demonstrated Communication Skills needed to brief top-level management, customers and/or large groups on an occasional-to-frequent basis.
This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with rotorcraft.
Familiarity with structural load limiting control laws.
Familiarity with military and/or commercial specifications related to loads development and analysis.
Familiarity with Unix/Linux and programming languages such as FORTRAN, python, or MATLAB.
