The Facility and Parks Maintenance Worker maintains the facilities and grounds of MVF properties, including: community centers, pool facilities, parks, the MVF Office, and the County right-of-way. This position also supports the MVF Programming Division by setting up for meetings and programs, and supporting with special event logistics.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Sweeps, mops, waxes and polishes floors; vacuums and spot-cleans carpets; empties trash baskets.

Cleans restrooms and replenishes restroom supplies; cleans kitchens; washes windows, walls, woodwork and fixtures; changes light bulbs.

Monitors heat and air conditioning units for proper operation and settings.

Reports any damage to MVF property or fixtures, or any mechanical failures to the Facilities and Aquatics Manager in a timely manner.

Sets up rooms for meetings, conferences, dances and special events and puts rooms in order upon completion of function. Sets up public address system and audio-visual equipment as needed.

Picks up trash, empties trash cans and replaces trash can liners in MVF parks, tennis courts, greenspaces and facility parking lots. Cleans up sticks and branches from MVF property.

Shovels snow from walkways and entrances to buildings. Puts ice melt on walkways and entrances as needed.

Maintains updated inventory of building and cleaning supplies and notifies supervisor of need to reorder in a timely manner.

Makes minor repairs to equipment and appliances at facilities and tennis courts, as needed.

Inspects playgrounds on a regular basis and completes written report noting any deficiencies.

Inspects MVF parks and property on a regular basis. Corrects identified issues or notify appropriate staff of the issue. Regularly Inspects and clears county right-of-way of trash, shopping carts and signs.

Checks tire, battery, oil, gas and coolant levels in assigned maintenance vehicles.

Moves furniture and equipment as needed. Picks up supplies and runs errands for administrative personnel.

Waters planting beds as needed/requested.

Assists with special events as assigned.

Performs other duties as assigned.

This position is required to work some weekends, holidays, and evenings.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to properly use and store cleaning chemicals by reading written instructions.

Thorough knowledge of institutional cleaning procedures.

Skills in operating cleaning equipment such as buffing machines and lifts.

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff and public.

Ability to repetitively lift and move 50 lbs.

Ability to work while standing for a minimum of 2 hours consecutively.

Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Ability to operate pickup truck.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school or GED and one year experience in custodial maintenance work; possession of a valid driver's license.

Must be able to pass a background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Additional experience in a similar role.

Pay: $35,000.00 - $38,000.00 per year
