Position Description

The City of Tolleson is seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Facility Maintenance Worker (M&O Utilities Technician). A Facility Maintenance Worker performs semi-skilled to skilled infrastructure, plumbing, electrical, and/or HVAC repairs and maintenance of facilities, equipment, infrastructure and/or other related items; Inspects, troubleshoots, and diagnoses issues to determine appropriate repairs and preventative maintenance; Operates specialized and heavy equipment; Documents and updates work performed in logs, reports, and records; Performs maintenance activities in assigned area of responsibility; Maintains, measures, repairs, and overhauls pumps and other related equipment; Inspects all plant mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment and machinery; Occasionally asked to assist with testing, maintenance and repairs of HVAC units; and, Performs related work as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Valid Arizona Driver's license required ability to obtain SCBA certification within 12 months from date of hire.

Physical Demands

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Heavy: Exerting 50-100 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10-20 lbs. constantly.

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, blood and other bodily fluids, and extreme temperatures.

Job Information

Closing Date: Open until filled Hiring Salary: $22.53-$27.04 Hourly D.O.E.
