The Family Advocate assists Children and Families access local community resources, and provides case management services for ECEAP/Head Start families. The Family Advocate role is benefited and scheduled for 36 hours per week, 1440 hours / 180 days per year, Or 40 hours per week, 2000 hours per year. Fully qualified pay rate $21.21 Typical schedule is Monday-Friday, day time hours. No Weekends.

Minimum Education and Experience
An Associate or higher degree with the equivalent of 30 college quarter credits in Human Development, Family Support, Social Work, Psychology or another closely related field. These 30 credits may be included in the degree or in addition to the degree.

Desired Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Human Development, Psychology, Sociology, Human Services or closely related field. One year paid experience providing social services to children and families.

  • Training plan may be considered depending on qualifications.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish highly desired.

Knowledge of
1. Available services and resources for families and children in the community.
2. Principles of case management, advocacy, and family dynamics.
3. Basic rules and principles of grammar, written and verbal communication, and mathematics.
4. Computer software programs, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook), including web based data entry.

Ability to
1. Establish helping relationships with families and family members from varying cultural, educational, socio-economic background.
2. Work cooperatively with staff members and clients from diverse cultural, socio-economic and educational backgrounds.
3. Maintain confidentiality of records and information.
4. Use the team approach to resolving problems or conflicts.
5. Demonstrate professional and effective written and verbal communication skills; receive information and feedback in an understanding manner; use good judgment.
6. Attend appropriate staff meetings and out-of-town training sessions as assigned.
