2023 EMPLOYER SITE & POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

Indian Neck Farm, Peconic NY
Indian Neck Farm is a 148-acre working farm on the North Fork of Long Island. Home to Indian Neck Organics, we grow and distribute a unique and limited variety of certified organic specialty vegetables. Join us! We are looking for motivated individuals to work in our Fields, Garden & Packing House, planting, maintaining, & packing organic produce orders for distribution to our Community. We offer competitive hourly rates & a supportive work environment, focusing on health, wellness, & high-quality organic food.
Position(s) available: Farm Crew, Transplant, maintain, & harvest organic produce in Fields & Gardens. Bed-making, seeding, straw mulching, weeding, cultivating. crops. Wash, sort, & pack produce in preparation for distribution to our Community & Hospitality Guests. Delivery & distribution to Clients in Long Island & Brooklyn. Maintain cleanliness and quality of tools, equipment, & Produce Barn facilities. Maintain harvest records & status of Produce orders. Light carpentry work.

Equipment Operator (previous experience required), Operate Farm equipment, both independently and in coordination with Field Crews, including appropriate use of implements and other tools necessary. Cultivate fields, using equipment to seed, transplant, and harvest crops, including (but not limited to) flame weeding, drilling cover crops, and greenhouse renovations. Daily clean ing of all used equipment and implements. Light mechanical and carpentry responsibilities. Drive delivery trucks for local distribution of produce. Maintain records regarding equipment.

Latham Farms, Orient NY
We are a 100 acre farm located in Orient, NY. Our family farm has been in our family for over 9 generations. Our principal farmer, and owner, Daniel Latham has been fruit, flower, and veggie farming for his entire life. Educated at the University of Georgia Agricultural School, he has since spent the last 50 years creating a successful farming lifestyle on the North Fork. Our primary focus these past few years has been our roadside farmstand, and restaurant business. We are looking to grow our delivery to new restaurants this year, and hope to open another stand in the neighboring town of Greenport.
Position(s) available: Farmstand manager. The position would be full time, Thursday-Monday, 8am-5pm. Excellent people skills is a must, able to lift crates/corn bags that could weigh up to 50 lbs, able to perform simple math and make change, manage employee schedules, and assist in social media.
We are also looking for someone to assist with the flowers. Currently we grow 5 acres of flowers, beginning with peonies in June and lasting through the Dahlias in late October. This would be field work. Daily planting, harvesting, weeding, etc.

Mecox Bay Dairy, Bridgehampton NY
At Mecox Bay Dairy, we believe that ‘Happy Cows Make Happy Cheese!’ Animal comfort and care is paramount and a driving concern of all that we do. Our capable herdsman, Claes Cassel, has spent over thirty years in the care and keeping of cattle, and tends to our herd of over 20 milkers. We also raise heifer calves born here on the farm, along with ten beef cows per year. Our beef cows are all grass-fed on over 30 acres of pasture that has been in the Ludlow family for five generations. Our milking cows are also primarily pastured, eating hay in the winter, which makes for excellent milk and therefore delicious cheese!
Position(s) available:Cheese Room Staff, we need help cutting, wrapping, turning and brushing. We also need help at the farmers markets during the season. If interested, help with milking cows and tending to the other livestock.

Sang Lee Farms, Inc, Peconic NY
Our farm is an 80 acre organic farm on the North Fork of Long Island. We grow hundreds of different varieties of vegetables and we sell only direct to consumer via CSA, farmer's markets, and at our large bustling retail market on site. We have a certified organic kitchen which we make all value added items with our produce. We farm year round using unheated greenhouses and sell through a winter farmer's market. We are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking candidates for the 2021 season to work in our fields, at the farm stand and markets, and in our kitchen. We are passionate about farming organically because we believe in caring for the soil, the land, and our future generations.
Position(s) available: Field Staff, our roles will vary throughout the season but will primarily focus on the planting, maintenance and harvest of the “fruiting” crops such as tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, fall squash, watermelons, sweet potatoes, potatoes, and more. You will observe and interact with other areas of the farm as well from time to time, but this is your primary area. You will be involved with preparing for our CSA program shares early in the week (harvest, sort, weigh, package, count, and load) and similarly you will be involved with preparing for the farmer’s markets on Thursday and Fridays. All positions are Monday - Friday as weekends we are at markets and Sundays everyone is off. Some days we might stay past 5pm, but mostly the schedule is from 8am-5pm with 1 hour mandatory unpaid lunch. 25hr/week and 40hr/week positions available.

Sen Restaurant, a modern Japanese restaurant, has been a mainstay in Sag Harbor, New York since 1994. We are an historic, non profit farm on Shelter Island, NY. Once a Manhansett Native American hunting, fishing and farming ground, Sylvester Manor has since 1651 been home to eleven generations of its original European settler family. Gifted to the Shelter Island community in 2014, the 235-acre historic site is the most intact slaveholding plantation remnant north of Virginia. Sylvester Manor sits on Gardiners Creek and has been transformed to an Enlightenment-era farm, then to a pioneering food industrialist’s estate and today to a nonprofit educational farm and vibrant arts and education center with programs open to all. The property includes the original Manor House built in 1735, a timber frame farm stand and a 19th century windmill. We grow 5 acres of mixed vegetables and fruit and raise pastured laying hens and woodland-raised pigs for our CSA, farm stand and wholesale.
Position(s) available: Farm Crew Members, We are looking for excellent team players with time management skills who love working outdoors and having fun. Responsibilities include greenhouse seeding and monitoring, Bed/field preparation, Field seeding/transplanting, installing and running irrigation and more. At least one full season of vegetable growing experience at the 3-10 acre scale is preferred.

The Hoppy Acre, Amagansett NY
The Hoppy Acre is a small, certified organic value-added farm located in Amagansett, NY. Since 2017, we have been growing hops for beer and hot peppers for our Springs Fireplace brand hot sauce and salsa. We are also one of a handful of farms that grow Indigo for natural dye. Besides making great products, we pride ourselves in growing lesser known varieties and educating our customers about their benefits and uses.
Position(s) available: Farm Help, Join The Hoppy Team and help grow hops and hot peppers for our beer and hot sauce brands. Team members will be involved in all aspects of farming annual and perennial crops from seeding, cultivating, harvesting, and preparing produce for wholesale and hot sauce production. Training in farm safety and food safety will be provided and expected to be followed. Tractor work may be possible if interested. Candidate must be: ready to work in all weather conditions; have a strong work ethic and ability to work independently and with the team; good communications skills; interest in sustainable agriculture; ability to lift 50lbs; have a driver's license and reliable transportation for commuting to the farm. Treiber Farms grows a wide variety of fruits and vegetables on about 15 acres on Long Island’s East End. One acre is no-till vegetables and the rest is divided amongst blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, apples, pears, peaches and additional low-till vegetables. Our farming practices reflect our values of simplicity, sustainability and resourcefulness. We do not use synthetic sprays on any of our produce and seek to minimize the use of organic sprays, choosing to work with nature rather than against it. Most of our work is done by hand. It is at this level that we can be most attentive to the needs of the plants. Our produce is sold through a small CSA, farm stand and wholesale accounts. We also enjoy opportunities to cross-pollinate agriculture and the arts through collaborations and events in the field and at our Old Barn.

Farm crew work alongside owners and manager as an integral part of a small, dynamic team. You will be involved in all aspects of production, harvest and post-harvest handling of produce. Daily tasks include but are not limited to: seeding, transplanting, mulching, irrigation, weeding, mowing, weed-whacking, harvesting, washing, packing for wholesale orders, stocking the farm stand, etc. Farm crew will also be expected to staff on-farm events (not more than one per month.)
