Buyer needed to manage the full scope of buying for store; apparel, accessories, surf wear, surf gear, souvenirs, etc., as follows:

• Private label branding
• Effective planning and merchandise selection across all categories
• Must be familiar with current market trends, good sense of future buying trends, off-price buying, open to buy, vendor negotiations, inventory analysis, knowledge of the product development lifestyle
• Demonstrate strong decision making skills
• Analyze performance - regularly review performance indicators, such as sales, discount values, gross margins
• Visual merchandise experience
• Identify key items and key looks to coordinate with surf wear or hard good products to ensure proper placement on the floor to maximize selling opportunities
• Manage allocation strategies to insure proper replenishment strategies of stock goals and flow plans, including stock balancing and timely transfers
• Ability to remain flexible and willing to change strategies as business needs dictate
• Work in conjunction with store management and administrative management to achieve sales goals
• Conduct buying trips, negotiate buying terms with vendors, manage open to buy and inventory levels with input from management, develop new products with existing vendors or source new vendors for product ideas

Requirements

• Must have private label branding experience
• 5 years previous fashion/apparel, accessories, souvenir, footwear, surf related buying experience a must, up to10 years preferred
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook (creating spreadsheets, formatting, formulas, links) a must
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal a must
• Strong interpersonal skills in building and managing relationships with peers and management
