Fiber Splicing Technician (FT) Job at MICA Corporation
Job Summary:
The Fiber Splicing Technician Install, repair, maintain, test, proof, or adjust, as needed, all fiber optic cables using appropriate test equipment while maintaining compliance with national and local fiber and electrical codes along with MICA policies and procedures.

- A skills test will be administered to evaluate fiber optic cable handling, fusion splicing, and OTDR proficiency.
- Outdoor cable plant (36 counts and above) experience required.

Essential Functions:
- Installs, repairs, maintain, test, proof, or adjust, as needed, all fiber optic cables using appropriate test equipment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent technical ability and attention to detail.
- Good organizational skills with an ability to establish priorities and proceed with objectives without supervision.
- Communicate effectively with Foremen and crew members.
- Experience working with electronic test equipment and basic hand tools.
- Must be able to travel extensively throughout Texas when needed.
- Must be able to work in an outdoor construction environment.
- Be willing to work flexible hours (days/nights/weekends) and overtime, when needed.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
Additional Requirements:
- Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Must be able to obtain a Texas Commercial Driver License (CDL) after hire.
- Must be able to pass a physical, as well as alcohol and drug screenings.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
- Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 LBS, and push and or pull/ up to 50 LBS at all times.
- Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
- Exposure to noise, fumes, vibrations, and heights.
- Exposure to prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, stooping, reaching, crawling, and climbing.
- Ability to remain flexible as specific assignments change.
- Able to use a variety of hand tools.
