Blast Cleaning Technologies, Inc. (BCT) has a full-time Field Service Electrician position available, with an employee based in the Milwaukee area, providing service to customers in the Midwest and eastern United States, primarily in WI, IA, MI, IL, IN, OH, MN, and PA, with travel to other states as business needs dictate.

General Description

Under the direction of the Service Manager, the Field Service Electrician will provide electrical and technical service to customers including inspections, maintenance, service, repairs, rebuilds, and upgrades to all types of blast equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

1. Be sure you and the people around you are working safely.

2. Layout and install wiring circuits in conformance with established codes.

3. Read and interpret electrical schematics to wire machines and panels.

4. Proficient in conduit bending. EMT, IMC, RMC.

5. Troubleshooting electrical issues in house and in the field of new and used equipment.

6. Ability to read Electrical machine drawings and schematics.

7. Installation and start-up of new equipment.

8. Rebuilding, maintaining, repairing, and upgrading all types of blast equipment.

9. Ability to travel 80+% of the week, mostly driving, including overnights.

10. Ability to work extremely flexible hours and weekends as required.

11. Provide inspections and follow-up reports.

12. Responsible for expense reporting weekly.

13. Complete all documentation in a timely manner as required.

14. Support Sales staff.

15. Act as a resource for new product offerings.

16. Provide training to customer on equipment.

17. Ability to use hand and power tools properly.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Journeyman or Masters license, or five to seven years of related experience, or ten to twelve years of progressively responsible related experience, or a combination of education and experience.

Experience with PLC’s, control systems, and root cause analysis is preferred but not required.

This position requires regular driving. All prospective employees must have a valid, unexpired driver's license. will be required to undergo a physical evaluation. An "Unacceptable" driver is any driver whose Motor Vehicle Report includes any of the following violations (during the most recent 3 year period unless otherwise stated):

  • Felony involving the use of a motor vehicle
  • Speeding 20 or more over the posted speed limit
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (DWI/DUI) in the last five years
  • Driving with an open container
  • Driving with a suspended or fraudulent license
  • Reckless driving
  • Passing a stopped school bus
  • Leaving the scene of an accident (hit and run)
  • Vehicular homicide/manslaughter
  • Aggravated assault with a motor vehicle
  • Eluding a police officer
  • Drag racing
  • Operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s permission (grand theft auto)
  • Permitting an unlicensed or intoxicated driver to drive
  • 3 or more moving violations in the last 3 years. This includes:

-Speeding less than 20 mph above the speed limit- Operating while registration is suspended- Failure to yield right-of-way- Careless or inattentive driving (including texting or cell phone use)- Running a red light or stop sign- Improper or excessive lane changes 2 or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the last year.Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and employees of the organization. Excellent communication skills and customer relationship management skills.Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The incumbent will regularly talk and listen, stand, walk, and drive. H/she will frequently complete repetitive hand and wrist movements. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, color vision, and depth perception. The employee will occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds and maneuver several hundred pounds a short distance. The employee will frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Employees will frequently use material handling equipment, such as forklifts and cranes.

Work Environment

This job operates in a factory environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is often loud enough to require hearing protection.
