This hourly role follows the Scotts/Hawthorne step pay progression scale and typically starts at $25.75. Scotts/Hawthorne will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.
We are looking for a Filler Technician who will join our Manufacturing team in Ft. Madison, IA.
Our Ft. Madison production facility is a state of the art liquid filling operation. Filler Technicians play an integral role in the operational success of our facility. Technicians are responsible for operating filling machines that package liquid consumer products.
What you’ll do in this role:

Operate and monitor various types of rotary and inline filling equipment to adjust and control fill rates as needed.

Adhere to plant safety rules and programs, including audits, safety suggestions, and participation in safety rotation of jobs.

Document results as it pertains to efficiencies, speeds, and quality.

Clean, lubricate, reassemble, install and adjust fillers to meet daily and yearly maintenance requirements.

Reconfiguration of filler in preparation for changing product runs.

Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance and utilize mechanical troubleshooting skills to ensure proper product and quality specifications are met.

Perform various manufacturing inspection protocols to ensure plant quality standards on liquid packaging products, first pass yield, product weights, and standard deviations.

Effectively relay information to peers and supervisors concerning the safety, quality, and performance of the production line. Identify gaps in targeted rates and efficiencies.

Communicate shift turnovers with team members while tending machinery, equipment, and assembly line.

Promote a teamwork environment, providing assistance and support to co-workers and guidance to new workers, and other duties as assigned.
What you’ll need to be successful:
-
High School Diploma or GED Required.
-
Minimum 1 year experience as a machine operator, production operator or equivalent position in a high speed manufacturing environment preferred.

Ability to prioritize and perform multiple simultaneous tasks, with interruptions.
-
Requires strong problem solving and decision making skills.
-
Strong math skills, including knowledge of the metric system.
-
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written with co-workers.
-
Ability to follow and communicate directions provided in verbal or non-verbal format.
-
Ability to work shifts and overtime.
