THIS IS A 1099 CONTRACTOR POSITION.

Captain Hirams is searching for a committed and proactive First Mate who would enjoy work in an exciting, fast-paced environment on our River King boat. The First Mate will attend to all needs on the boat; from the Captain’s needs to the customers as well as maintaining expectations. The mate will need to have a clear understanding of the rules and regulations of the waterways and possess knowledge of the marine ecosystems. You will also need to be able to engage and communicate easily with passengers and crew. Must have open availability and be reliable for any trips scheduled or unscheduled. This position does require weekend and holiday work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Have a complete understanding of when trips are running

· Check in at scheduled time and have boat prepped to run

· Able to fuel gas caddie and able to walk it to boat if needed

· Help assist with a waste pump out

· Have boat always stocked up with ice and water or other necessary items

· Understand knots and tying up boats to help assist docking and launching boat

· Experience in customer service to maximize the experience left on our guests

· Help board guests on and departing guests off boat

· Provide correct information and commentary of trips

· Assist Captain by being aware by spotting any wildlife or concerns that may occur

· Be attentive and alert always and able to react to issues efficiently

· Ability to communicate with the team

· Must be able to withstand any weather conditions (hot and cold temperatures, rough waters, rain, etc.) for long hours

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

· Must be at least 18 years of age

· Preferably have some experience of marinas and boats

· Must be CPR certified and have taken a boater safety course

· Have some experience in tools and be mechanically inclined

· Candidate must possess strong communication skills

· Must be respectful and reliable

· Present self professionally

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and other activities as requested. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Standing for long periods of time. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Candidate must be able to control the boat by pulling and using lines to successfully dock and depart.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
