Job Summary:

Anticipates guest needs in advance and demonstrates flexibility towards changing demands. Executes the timely service of food and beverage sales for table service, catering, take-out. Oversees the accuracy of customer meal order and pricing to ensure an exceptional guest experience. Accepts payments, reconciles cash, credit card receipts at end of shift. Serves alcohol, bartends, hosts and serves banquets as assigned. Prepares and serves hot and cold beverages and plates specific menu items. Maintains and oversees the cleanliness and orderliness of dining room throughout service period; ensures that work areas are properly stocked at all times. Oversees the set-up buffets, bars, hot and cold food displays for catering. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Anticipates guest needs in advance and demonstrates flexibility towards changing demands
2. Executes the timely service of food and beverage sales for table service, catering, take-out.
3. Obtains customer menu orders, places order using electronic point of sale system, delivers and serves meal following established waitstaff procedures
4. Oversees the accuracy of customer meal order and pricing to ensure an exceptional guest experience
5. Independently conducts food sales from a stationary or mobile cart in various locations during meal service
6. Accepts payments using electronic point of sale system during meal services; informs customers of total charge; completes transaction, issues receipt to customer
7. Performs cashier functions as assigned, following established cashier procedures
8. Counts and reconciles cash, credit card & freedom pay transactions, meal tickets and register receipts at end of shift
9. Maintains and oversees the cleanliness and orderliness of dining room throughout service period; ensures that work areas are properly stocked at all times
10. Oversees the set-up of buffets, bars, hot and cold food displays for catering
11. Performs Host functions as assigned, greets guests entering the restaurant, takes reservations, seats guests
12. Performs Bartender functions as assigned, prepares and serves alcoholic beverages
13. Prepares hot and cold beverages, espresso drinks, cold food trays, plates specific menu items following established guidelines for portion control and presentation
14. Serves catered functions as assigned, Passes food and beverage from a tray,
15. Sets up dining room and service area prior to start of service; breaks down areas at end of service
16. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment; performs cleaning duties as assigned.
17. Complies with all regulatory agency standards and all department policies and procedures.
18. Trains new personnel and orients dietetic interns to work areas as assigned.
19. Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.


Required Job Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED required
City of Chicago Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of employment
Allergen Certifications within 180 days of employment
BASSET Certifications within 180 days of employment
Minimum of one-year restaurant table service experience as food server
Ability to read, write, speak English
Strong math skills

Physical Demands:

Ability to exert 65 pounds of effort to push or pull a cart, able to balance a tray of food with one hand, ability to lift and carry 40 pounds minimum, stooping, kneeling, reaching, able to communicate using a variety of audio-technology, able to see, 100% of time standing or walking
