Forest Officer
$4251.00 – $6490.00, Monthly plus benefits
  • To Qualify: Must have Four (4) years in wildland fire suppression OR Bachelor's degree in forestry or closely related natural resources field AND one (1) year of wildland fire suppression. (Note: One 3-6 month season is equivalent to 1 year of experience). Applicants must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Will be required to take and pass the physical fitness Work Capacity Test at the arduous level. Must obtain the Class B Warden certification within the trial service period.
  • Some positions may require a valid class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

Your New Role – Here are some of the responsibilities for these positions.
General Responsibilities
  • Assist in the coordination, administration, and dispatch of single engine airtankers located at the USFS Tanker Base in John Day, Oregon
  • Act as a liaison between ODF, USFS, BLM, and the Contractor.
  • Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
What we are looking for
  • Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Ability to set goal, prioritize, organize, and accomplish assigned work.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Experience dispatching aircraft to fire locations.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple agencies.
