Forklift Operator/Furnace Tender

Safely operate of all metal melting procedures, deliver molten aluminum via forklift and ladle to specific furnaces, quality checks for proper metal handling, and perform tasks to support and maintain die cast operations.

• Perform proper LOTO procedures, and know emergency procedures, equipment operations and locations
• Know and exhibit safe molten metal tow motor and aluminum handling skills
• Perform required quality checks according to instructions maintain SPC logs, metal certifications, and record results
• Operate forklift with ladle
• Keep all furnaces filled and supporting production cast department
• Load ingot and scrap into furnaces as required
• Tap and de-gas molten metal
• Use proper flux and cleaning agents
• Clean furnaces, ladles, tools and department as required each shift
• Maintain 5S, sweep, sort, sustain department efficiencies
• Sort parts/scrap/ segregate scrap into correct dunnage as required
• Report any quality defects
• Maintain daily work log, SPC, maintenance, load charts, scrap records, and aluminum inventory
• Understand and manage multiple alloys
• Inform Supervisor of any items that might affect operations
• Work in warm environment
• Work with minimum supervision
• Work safely with molten metal and hot surfaces
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Safely drive and execute forklift knowledge and situational awareness.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Forklift Experience Required.
• 1 year manufacturing experience OR One year general labor experience.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Strong attention to details.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job such as lifting and moving up to 50 lbs., standing for extended periods, bending, squatting or kneeling. · Availability to work any shift.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check.
